I have not as of yet as I just acquired my Kestral saddle and have a Mantis on the way. This will be my first season hunting and filming with one. Seemed like a great way to lighten the gear load. I have practiced shooting out of the saddle and have done well. I did hook up the camera gear but didn't film with it. Seems like I may be able to carry at least 20 less pounds
That is totally where my head is at too. When I am mobile hunting (most of the time) the stand AND filming gear is a ton. If ya dont mind, let me know what you think when you get it all going. Are you thinking you will like the mantis better?
Yes I bought the Kestral first before the Mantis existed. So now we’re talking 18 oz for just the saddle compared to 21lbs for my lone wolf climber.
I went to saddle last year and haven't hunted from a stand since. I didn't film any while hunting last year, but did take camera every time I went scouting. It wasn't much different then from a stand, just have to practice filming around the tree. I also got the Kestrel last year and it's a great saddle, but I'm really interested in getting the new Kite from New Tribe. It looks like they fixed alot of the complaints people had with the Kestrel. Sent from my SM-G900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
