With the 2018 deer season approaching, I like to set some goals for myself. This will be my 4th season in, and my goal this year is to harvest a buck on my TX lease which I have not done yet in the 3 years prior. My two buck kills with a bow have come from hunts in Oklahoma. If I can get passed my usual doe and harvest my buck, it will be a big accomplishment for me this season. With that being said, what is your goal this year? Are you trying to get your first deer with a bow under your belt? Do you want to tag more than one deer this year? Kill a deer on video? Probably the most obvious answer will be to kill a buck of bigger size no doubt, but just wanted to hear what kind of goals everyone has going into the season!
I’ve always hunted private land, but I’m trying to learn the public stuff. Private 40 acre parcels have big bucks passing through, but I’m trying to learn the whole story and a lot of times, I can’t do that on private because of not have access to surrounding properties. That being said... 1. Find bucks on public land that I’ve scouted 2. 2 does 3. 130”+ buck, private or public -bonus- 130”+ buck that I have or have had pics of
To enjoy another season in the big hardwoods. To become better at still hunting. A kill would be nice too!
my goals the last couple years are the same 1. biggest buck to date 2. reality of the goal is best hunt to date, this includes all aspects, preparation, practice, read the weather, pick right stand, get busted less often etc. make clean shot i cant really control if a monster deer walks by, but i can improve on the things i can control.
My goal is to stay off my place the first two to three weeks of October. I think in the past I have given my target buck an education of my schedule and routine. I have rarely taken a large buck until the last week of October in the past, so why get out early and feed the ticks and mosquitoes? And then have the patience to not arrow another buck until the second rut, I have a 300+ acre farm next to me and the owner is not a hunter so the big buck on that place always waits until late season to meander over to my place.
My goal is to kill a buck, I don't really care what he looks like. Secondary goals are to take my younger cousin hunting during the rifle season, and help him tag his first deer. Also I would like to take a deer from the ground this year, I have a couple spots where I think I can make it happen.
1) Harvest my first buck 2) Harvest a doe with traditional bow 3) Hunt some public land with my dad and hopefully help him harvest a buck
Corny as it sounds to just enjoy what nature has provided and hopefully kill a mature animal for the freezer. Good luck to all,
Yeah thats the downside to being on the ground. I'm sure there have been plenty of deer within 30 yards of me that I just cannot see. But this year will be different. I finally got sick of my wife complaining and got hearing aids.
Help steal the belt away from Team 3 which hence forth shall be called the van helsings ( monster killing ba$tards)
This will be my third year w/a compound bow. I want to arrow every pig I see, big or small. And I'd love to kill a nice 8 point.
