Has anyone else run into this problem? On my trail cams when I pull the SD card and put it in the adapter that plugs into my phone I see pictures, but if I tried to play the video it is just black. When I plug the SD card into my computer they work fine. anyone have this problem and can help me resolve it?

I have the same issue. Haven’t been able to figure it out though.

I have a few stealth cams here at home and a stealth cam card reader. Let me set them on video and see what I can get to work on iPhone 8. I'll be back.

OK the StealthCams produce avi formated video. Using the regular card reader I was able to view the video using the APP I-EasyDrive. I think this app is also available for Android. There are a couple of videos on YouTube for it.

You should be able to use this with any card reader I would think but dont know for sure.

I also tried the StealthCam WiFi card reader using the APP Cloud Hub. The video was visible and playable but choppy.

What card readers are you using?

Thanks Copperhead, this is the second time you have helped me. I am just using a basic card reader. I may not be pulling pictures for a couple of weeks, but I will download the app and give it a try. Appreciate the help!

I just got a Galaxy S8. I've tried my old card reader and a new one and can't get photos or video to show up on my phone.

It may be the video file format. Some phones won't read .avi files. If the camera generates video to .avi format that could be the issue. If that is the case an app like iconv or vlc can convert the .avi file to .mpeg-4, which phones should have no issue reading.

Ok what App are you using to look at the files? The Androids do have native file explorer but it might not have all the codecs you need. You can try installing an APP called File Manager in Google Play. If you already have that let me know and I'll see if I can find one that works. I dont have a Droid to test else I would have checked for you already. Let me know and we will get something figured out.

I installed VLC media player and eventually figured out a way to get it to play. I first had to download the videos to my phone and then open the file from my phone (not the sd card). VLC was able to open it up then. Sort of a pain still but at least I got it to work.

Glad you figured it out but that sounds like too much work for me. I resorted to buying more cards and just swapping them out and viewing on my computer at home.
