July 3rd, the results come out for the Oklahoma controlled hunts. I put in for the McAlester army ammunition plant and Sequoyah national wildlife refuge, All bow hunts. I’m already pumped for this years season. I’ve got cameras out, been feeding and installing some mineral stations. I’m hoping this will help the herd out. Who else is getting ready?
I have been doing what I can! Minerals are out and cameras are hung I put a lot of boot leather on the ground this spring so hoping it pays off! After 8 years of hunting the same property, I finally feel confident that I understand what type of property it is when it comes to deer hunting and how to utilize my time and effort in the direction of shooting a good buck! at least that's how I feel Ill either confirm or not confirm that this fall!
Well, I didn’t get selected for the controlled hunts, again lol. Oh well, I’ll just invest that much more of my time in locating and patterning this guy hopefully! I’m heading this weekend to check cameras and freshen of my mineral sites. Hoping to see some growing antlers on camera.

Good luck to your son, there are some big deer in Cookson! I feel you bud. It almost seems like they hand pick their friends lol. I don’t know anyone personally that drew a tag this year. I’ll try again next year though. I’ve got my vacation planned for November 4th to go to James Collins to hunt a little.
I hunt Collins several times a year. Place has some giants roaming around. Also has some Giant Rattlesnakes as well lol

I Didn't relize that OK had any big bucks until I moved here 7 months ago and put out a corn pile and a camera. Here's one buck I have from a property in westville, Ok
That’s a great looking buck! Yeah, we have some really good deer here. I work at a processing plant in the winter, we seen several big bucks, crazy good year last year.
Nice buck! We do have some nice deer and I love late season between the week before Christmas through the first week of January in Oklahoma. You'll be surprised!
Thanks! Last year did seem like a big buck year! I've got other pictures of bigger bucks but the sd card that has those pics on them is in a camera I have out for coyote hunting.

How many of y'all have noticed the acorn mast this year!? Whereas normally my oaks maybe have little sets of 4 acorns in years past this year they have sets of 6 and 8 and are loaded. Get ready to not see a deer on the food plots until November, lol! Same with all my Pecan trees as well!
