I am in the process of planning a 2019 archery elk hunt. First time I've done this. I want to really get the full experience and I pride myself on being in pretty good shape, so I'm ready to do the hiking to be successful. Can anyone recommend an outfitter? Open to any areas, but not really looking to hunt out of a lodge. Thanks!
Colorado or Idaho are good places to start. New Mexico and Utah have some big bulls, but you’ll pay for a tag through and outfitter. The west side of Wyoming is good hunting. I’m strictly DIY, so I don’t know of many guides. Get your hands on a copy of Bugle, there are guides for every state listed in the back. Check out ELK101 University of Elk Hunting. It’s well worth the cost.
