Just how many seperate seasons do some of you guys want? A short season for trad, then a short season for compound bows, then a short season for crossbows? Or just close all the season you don't want to use and make one longer season your interested type of bow hunting? Seems a little one sided.
I would also like to see the following seasons added: Mechanical broadhead season Fixed broadhead season Hybrid broadhead season
That makes about 6 seasons to make everyone happy. In Ohio we have a 4 month bow season so each of the 6 seasons would be about 3 weeks long. Now everyone is pissed because of their season is so short.
For the record I was joking. I hunt year round with a compound on private land and honestly couldn’t care less what anyone else does, if they are outdoors enjoying themselves and legal, good on them.

So if a company that manufactures the product calls it something it's not? You can not poo poo the point and the companies are not doing themselves any favors. They are not marketed as bows.
A crossbow is just a compound turned sideways. Both use wheels, both use triggers, both use sights. Semantics game over.
God knows before I go out hunting with my compound the first thing I do is cock it and make sure the 3x9 scope is clean
Don't forget your 80 some percent let off cams and range finding fiber optic lighted pins along with your mechanical release. Give that drop away rest a good look too. Give me a break...... the crossbow argument has NEVER been about the equipment and never will be. Its about selfish people who don't want to see anymore hunters in the woods during the early season. Judging from the numbers over the last ten years those people may just get their wish. Of course it will be at the expense of losing the entire bow season to anti's. Just maybe, you should support others regardless of what they choose to hunt with. After all, at least you will have a few extra numbers to stand and fight for the cause. Flame on......
I've never understood why this thread hasn't been deleted out of the crossbow forum. The crossbow forum should be for crossbow hunters, not a place for this severely beaten dead horse argument. The entire argument still reminds me of the Dr. Seuss story "The Sneetches". If you're not familiar with that old children's story maybe you should read it.
The string isn't drawn the same way or at the same time. I'm not purposefully contentious, nor do I care if someone uses a xbow, but having to come to full draw is a huge difference come crunch time.
Ive hunted with both and I have to disagree. Well, as long as you draw your bow at the right time anyway. I've been busted, picked off, winded and just about everything else you can imagine but I've never been busted drawing my bow. Well, last season an alert lead doe did catch the movement of me drawing but I still killed a deer.
Congrats on your kills! Sounds like I could learn a thing or two from you! I got busted several times last fall. Admittedly, I'm a newb only in year two @ age 50.
Compared to a lot of folks on here I'm still a "newb". I've only been bow hunting for 11 years. I don't feel there is much you could learn from me because I don't consider myself a very good hunter. I guess I've always been lucky when it comes to deciding when to draw my bow on a deer. It's just a matter of waiting until the deer aren't looking my way or their vision is blocked by trees or cover. The real trick, in my opinion, is just being patient and waiting for the right moment to draw. The right moment will almost always present itself.
