So long as it’s reliable it will be fine. You’ll eventually find what suits you best.

I started with a Velcro and now I have a buckle, I prefer the buckle because it fastens it into a certain hole ensuring it fits the same every time

I think Velcro in any form has no business in the woods.
Not bashing your gear, just a personal opinion that I'm sure lots agree with.

Really it all boils down to what you are comfortable with. If its velcro I would recommend putting it on prior to going to the stand. That way you are not making a lot of noise once you are there. But it will work fine for hunting though. Thats all I used to use was velcro strap releases and lots of other people still do and have success with them. Good luck.

Honestly your release can be tied to your wrist with an old piece of string, so long as the mechanics of the release are sound your good lol

The subject line reeled me right in. My spare has velcro, the one I use has a buckle. Prefer a buckle for all the reasons shared by previous posters.

My TruFire Hurricane release is velcro, but I have it taped to stay in it's position. I just slip it on and off, not a sound.
