Curious to what everyone is using for their whitetail setups across the country in terms of bow, draw/arrow weight, broadheads, etc. etc. Maybe someone, including myself, can get some new ideas for future rigs.

As for me, I killed both of my bucks this past season with a Bowtech Assassin drawing 55lbs, shooting VAP's, one with a G5 broadhead and the other using an old NAP 125 grain razorcap. It was not a pretty set-up, but it was my first and I made it work.

Near the end of the season I upgraded to a Bowtech Realm, 29" draw at 70lbs. Using the tried and true Spot Hogg Hogg Father, shooting the 5mm FMJ Limited Edition Camo arrows. Still deciding on whether to stick with the Razorcap's or switch to the NAP Spitfire Doublecrosses, either way finished arrow wight is 475 grains, travelling at 266 fps. I have not had the pleasure of drawing back on a whitetail with the new rig yet, but I am excited to get the opportunity.

What about everyone else, what have you had your success with?

Mathews Monster Chill X, 70lb draw and 30inch draw length. Easton Bowfire 330 and Muzzy Phantoms 100gr.

Blew through many tough old 300lb + wild boar with that rig. Goes through everything else like butter lol.

Hoyt Pro Defiant, 65lb draw and 29" length Gold Tip Hunter XT with 100 grain Rage Chisel tips. First year with the Hoyt coming from Bear. I like it a lot. Probably going to change from 65lb to 60. My shoulders can't keep up with the amount of shooting I like to do. How was the transition from 55lbs to 70?

It honestly was not very bad. I shot 55lbs since I first started shooting many years ago, so after getting older and stronger 70 felt fairly easy, after some practice it feels just as easy as the previous.

How much do you shoot and how old are you? You don't have to answer I'm just trying to gauge how much I suck for going down weight! haha I feel more and more beat up every year.

I shoot anywhere from 4-7 days a week, depending on business of schedule. I am also 18, but I run and lift weights throughout the year basically everyday, which I assume has something to do with it.

At 70 yo switched from vertical recurve to horizonal compound (that's secret name for crossbow so I can post on this forum). I shoot a Barnett C5 150# 20" with Ramcat head weighing 493 gr at ~ 288 fps.

They are a great broadhead. Very simple and no moving parts to fail.
