What arrow/broadhead are you shooting for Elk? Also, what FPS/draw/weight are you shooting? This will be my first time going in September and I'm just trying to decide how I want to rig out. My current plan is the 5mm FMJ w/ a Magnus Stinger broadhead but that's just an idea
I do not hunt Elk but plan to in the future. From my limited knowledge, that seems to me like a solid arrow choice, while some may say that speed kills, on bigger game such as elk a heavier arrow is generally the way to go. However I may be biased, considering I use a 5mm FMJ 475 grain arrow shooting only 266 fps for Whitetail in an area in which all anyone cares about is blazing speed for the most part.
My elk setup is a Elite Answer, 29” 70# shooting a 28” 5mm FMJ with BAR and 100 grain SlickTrick ViperTric. Have not run it over the chrono, I don’t care about the speed, it shoots and flies awesome. You’re on the right track and the Stinger is a great head. Have used them in the past. Don’t try to over engineer this.
Do you recommend blazer or twister vanes? I have always shot blazer with mechanical but I could see the advantage to twister with a fixed head and potentially further distances
Set up with Blazers. Perfect arrow flight out to 80. A well tuned bow is the answer to most problems.

This year its a BEA Spartan...lots of brass up front. Total weight 520 with Ironwills for broadheads. Humming along at 259 FPS

I looked at the Ironwill heads, good looking design. I just can’t cough up $30 for a head for them or Solids. Stingers will preform as well and Mike has great customer service. Still have a couple dozen, so there’s a good chance that they’ll be back on my FMJs.
I shot the Carnivore black eagles in 350 spine with Blazer vanes, and the Magnus black hornet head in a 125 grain. Total arrow weight of 415. I would like to be heaver to be honest.

This is where I have started my Elk arrow build. I'll see how I like them this years deer season. If anything I might go heavier. 29" c-c 300 BE Outlaws 125 Magnus Black Hornet Ser-Razor 15 grain insert with a 50 grain brass screw in weight Bohning 3 fletch actually shooting 68 lbs. 29" DL out of a HOYT Defiant.
Gold Tip Hunter Pro 300, 50 gr insert with 125 gr broadhead. Haven't made the final decision between Kudupoints or Slicktricks. 30 1/2 inch arrows with 29 inch draw on a Hoyt Powermax at 68# Total weight 505 gr.
FMJ's here. 419 weight. Thinking about adding some weight. 100 gr Trophy taker shuttle t lock for broadhead. 31 inch draw at 60 pounds. Thinking about trying the DirtNap Gear D.R.T Single bevel broadhead at 125 gr.
I'm shooting a 29.25" Carbon express Maxima Hunter 350 with 100 grain slick trick magnums out of a 70 lb Bowtech REALM. Total arrow weight is 400 grain and it is shooting 305 fps
