Howdy from the woodlands of New England and the Northeast. Have been lurking here awhile and finally decided to join. This is one quality bowhunting site and I hope that it continues to grow in service to the bowhunting community. Love folks that understand that Bowhunting is one word and is something very different from Archery. Hope to continue to learn about our great endeavor and be of some assistance to others. SkyPeace
Welcome aboard! I’m from RI, and hunt public land in CT. Where are you from in CT? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
East Hartford, pretty much central Connecticut, hunt public also. Grew up hunting farm land in upstate NY so hunting public land is a big change and a lot harder. On the farms we pretty much had the deer patterned by opening day food sources being pretty much stable and watching entrances and exits. Now I have to institute an off season scouting regime.
Your in a great spot for hunting deer in ct. I have for 30 yrs......... south off rt. 9 are some great areas.
Thanks, never tried that area, mostly north eastern part of the state. Will probably give it a try this year.
Well, there's upstate and then there's Upstate. For me ya gotta be north of the capital...the rest is just the greater southern tier.
I grew up hunting northern CT (nipmuck State Forest) where if you saw a deer, it was an amazing day! I love the big woods and the challenges that come with it. I only saw one deer last year, and I put my time in, and I know how to hunt. I owned myown property in RI for a few years, and also hunted In Illinois for a few years. It's a culture shock coming back down to reality, but it makes any encounter so much more enjoyable.
Cant give away every secret spot. That is my camp partner. We own the camp in western NY. However that was a ct. deer scored at 155" with a live weight at just under 300 lbs. Shot at 6yds. with a bow from a tree stand.
I wasn't asking for the 8 digit grid cordinates to your stand, just simply asking where in MA you are from, AKA friendly conversation. I grew up in Sturbridge, MA, and have friends in Palmer/Monson.
