I fully expect to contribute nothing to the team.....except tons of walking...probably some pictures and disappointment LOL

It may be a bit before I can put some miles on the ground. We just got 16 inches of snow in 3 days!

I am expecting my best year of shed hunting to date, I have about 1500 acres of private ground in MN to walk, 3000 acres of mixed private/public in eastern ND to walk and just spent the whole weekend scouting mule deer in the badlands for shed hunting. I am also going on a semi guided shed hunt again this year in SD!

I have set an optimistic goal of 100 sheds for the season :)

Checking in. I am in the process of selling my best shed hunting farm, and gave permission to the new owners to look. But, I will spend some time on my other farm that I have never really shed hunted and have other areas to look. I hope to add a few to the team total. I have a couple already.

How many have you found so far? I will add them to the score card.

Anyone have ideas for a name? I thought of Bone Depot, The Walking Shed, and Senior Bones. I am not emotionally invested in any of them.

dbl lung is at it again this year. I remember last year our team was a little salty about how the contest ended, I dont recall if we ever got a picture of all his sheds at one time but he found an ungodly amount right at the end to win it.. Oh well :)

    Checking in!

I've only been out once and didn't find anything. Most bucks are still holding in my area. I usually found 99% of my sheds at work, but we just got laid off 2 weeks ago.

No one will ever get a picture of all the sheds together Leo and I find. A lot of them are given back to the landowners where we find them. Hell I can not even hunt a lot of the property we shed hunt on. I hold out hope that doing the work will bring hunting privileges in the future. I'm pretty sure last year I produced a picture of the large box full of sheds that I kept....there were between 90 and 100 in the box. Believe it or not there are guys who don't work at all and find more:). For me it is a combination of the amount of land I have permission on, where the land is, and Leo that makes finding sheds easy. I believe we are ahead of last years number at this point of the season. Even I never thought Id say that. But then how many of you have put 162.3 miles on your legs so far this year?

So, over 50 hours of walking and many deer are still holding. I would have to shed hunt with a flashlight this time of year to get that many hours in. Or, quit my job.

A buddy of mine was in my office yesterday and had driven around the night before looking at deer. He saw 15 different bucks that still had both sides. Another buddy is obsessed with shed hunting and has been going nearly every day and has less than 20 total.

I use s Garman watch which records steps and distance. I have been walking areas since January 1st. Obviously my days off I put the most miles on. Do you want to try to keep up:)

I'm not saying I will out pace you, but I will put on more miles than most. Let's see how the numbers turn out. I use my Onx maps tracker to record walks.

You guys should not be looking deep in the woods right now. All that does is push the deer to the neighbors. I have some farms that leave large amounts of food in fields...my estimate is 165 acres total of food in all areas I search. I walk for the day on my days off. Food for Leo and I and we head to the field. I will say Leo finds 2/3s of the sheds...definately the difference maker.

I have a lease where there were 11 bucks still holding as of Saturday.
