Those hawk cameras at first glance look like they will steal the market with the compact and blue tooth capabilities. Very interested in them.
I like the look of those Hawk cams. Hopefully they still have the SD memory card option though, I don’t wanna download thousands of Bluetooth pictures every week. $109? That’s incredible. As far as the topic of the thread, the OP is right. Finding a good game camera is tough, making it even harder are companies that offer 10 different models with one being stellar and the rest being duds. Right now I REALLY like my new Primos and Moultrie Cams, and kinda like my Bushnells & Brownings. I’d stay away from Radix and Stealth based on my experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Bluetooth idea for pictures was just idea. The camera only allows setting changes through Bluetooth. They will have a card but it’s a micro sd card. So you’ll need a adapter If some sort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I honestly wrote Hawk quite the email and expressed the ridiculousness of having to NEVER order more stands or sticks....sorry the closest distributor/store in response is utterly absurd. I grew tired of waiting so bought some other test stands including a Millenium. Hawk stands I love but you NEVER can get ahold of them...if he cams experience the same issue it will be their undoing IMO. Which Radix ones you experience?
Gen 500. Dark pics, terrible battery life, below average video quality...I have lots of cams I spent $70-100 on that are better unfortunately. I love the preview screen and the wide angle photos, but that’s about it. Here’s a comp with a 6 year old Covert: I will say the night pictures are VERY good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Which Covert though? Radix's by nature and design are more real to life in lighting which definitely translates to darker images than many are used to for sure. Bummer though man, my Gen500's so far (knock on wood) have been money. I don't run video much on them though so couldn't comment on video for em though. My battery life has been great, but that could be partly not ever doing video. I still like their PS model ones surprisingly better honestly. Bought two more refurbed ones from Cliff that just came I gotta get out.
See...you sound like a salesman. I don’t care if it’s “real to life” lighting...I need to be able to see what triggers the camera! Saying it’s dark on purposes just justifies the fact that it’s admittedly darker. If they want to appeal to the 1% who only care about being realistic...than that’s not for me...lol. The ultimate point of a trail camera is being able to see what walking by it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nobody does, except people who are defending the brand. If you have to explain why the picture looks “different”, that’s saying something. And for $150 a number of better cameras can be had. Also Ty, the PS1 uses the micro SD right? That’s just simply a deal breaker for most I would imagine too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also Ty again, it got about 2000 pics over a 3 day span and was almost dead (lines in all the photos, not taking pictures at night) whereas my Covert with the same batteries is over 10,000 and still hammering away. The Covert is 6 years old...that’s not good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I get zero from them so not that here. They are darker than most others 100% I even admitted it. I've lightened up some images to see clearly personally.
The micro's did catch me as odd and I even stated originally wasn't a huge fan but I've already gotten use to it and anymore they just ride in the full size adapters until needed. That doesn't bug me terribly. I suspect the settings will be changed moving forward as darker images is the main concern and worry they've heard from what I heard back when I also commented on it in an email. We will see. I once used a Covert or two that sucked...thank God I didn't write them off because the 9 I have currently are ticking well beyond their price tags or warranty.
I also contacted them, I could live with bad battery life in cold weather if the images were bright and crystal clear...especially since it only gets that cold in the off season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Hawk cams use micro SD cards? That is a deal breaker. I have heard of people using micro SD cards with an adapter in a SD card slot. Not sure how you would us an SD card in a micro SD card slot.
My Reconyx MR5 has the micro sd card. I have to be more careful when changing cards. But as these things get smaller so will the cards. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
As for the Micro issue, I actually now have a fleet of 10 Micro SD 16GB class 10s that just live in my carrying case inside my Card pouch. If a cam that takes one I slide it out...if not I slide the whole thing in. Truly hasn't been an issue other than the time I dropped a micro due to cold fingers....that was an impossible journey in the inch of snow.
The Hawk cameras are virtually a carbon copy of the Radix PS series. Same thing Muddy did when they came out with a less expensive copy of Browning's cams.
