Well guys I should have had 50 more points for us last night. I completely botched a 25 yard chip shot on a 135-140 inch ten point last night. It definitely would have capped off a great season for me. It definitely stings! The fortunate thing is he didn't seem completely scared. He knew it wasn't right but the wind was gusting about 10-15 and I think it helped cover some noise. Crossing my fingers he will return. Sent from my HTC6535LVW using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Good luck! Hope u get another shot at him! I am planning on going back out Sunday! Saturday is calling for 25 to 30 mph sustained until 6 PM. Crazy weather this year! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Well, I am definitely sorry to hear that, but glad that I am not the only one. I had a perfect 20yd open shot on a doe last night and still not sure what happened. I have been practicing with a new thumb release and decided to use it for the hunt. When I took the shot, my bow hit the rail of my climbing stand and completely botched the shot. This has never happened to me before with my trigger release and I still can't quite figure out what happened. the only thing that comes to mind is that with a thumb release the motion seems a bit different, where you sort of stretch a little bit further to shoot, which maybe could have lead to me hitting the railing? Not sure. Has anyone else had this problem before? I am still kicking myself as shots on public land don't come often around here.
I was taught to hold a thumb release so that the "Button / Trigger" is resting right where your thumb meets your hand. The release is not supposed to be a pull action but more of a muscle contraction. When you pull the trigger with your thumb it takes a lot more movement than just flexing your hand. Your draw should feel shorter with the thumb release over the trigger release.
I'm itching to get back out. I usually lay off some while rifle season is on. It's over half way done. Then I'll hit it hard again to punch my second tag. I've never tagged out before. Would be nice to see what that is like. Sent from my VS500 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

I will be out tomorrow evening. Going to head out to the same farm where I missed that buck. I've got one tag left and saving it for a solid buck 120+. There's a lot of season left with a lot of good hunting as long as the weather cooperates. I'm loving all this rain we've had so far for gun season here in MI, keeping guys out of the woods and keeping deer safe lol. Sent from my HTC6535LVW using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Wind will be right for me tomorrow. Makes it tempting to head out. I might just head out along with gun hunters. Sent from my Classic using Tapatalk
I have a 4 day hunt coming next weekend. I've been a little picky up until this point but now I'll put anything down that crosses my path to get some points up and meat in the freezer. Sent from my SM-G955U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'm in my stand right now. A few minutes ago it sounded like a battlefield to my southeast. Either it was bird hunters or a deer drive drove a whole herd into an ambush. Sent from my Classic using Tapatalk
I'm in the same boat. Passed up a few that I could have shot in early season and then botched a couple of chances I had in the last few weeks. Now I am in desperate need of meat! Hoping to get out on Wednesday and Sunday this week.
Looks like a lot of us are in the same boat, I am trying to get out at least two more times before gun season is over to get a doe or buck. After gun season I will back out once for muzzleloader and a couple more times with bow. Getting cold and staying cold here finally.
not my deer but my brother in laws deer. Stud 8 that he shot on Sunday evening. I scored him at 148 2/8. Sent from my HTC6535LVW using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
