If your entrance was 4 inches below spine, I think you have double lung. Good luck. Wait at least two hours just in case before going further. Back out if you do not find him within 150 yards.
Yep. That is probably fine then. I guess I originally thought if you are out of sight with some terrain, like a low spot, on route 2 in that little opening the shorter approach is less chance of making noise/mistake and less impact on the surrounding area. In short, eliminating the wind and being seen just leaves being heard. If you can quietly slip in on route 1, go for it and hope it pans out in your favor. And like Cls said, you can bump him in the parking spot...horny little suckers. Hope you get him.
I don't think that buck will be there with that wind. It gives him no advantage to bed there on a south wind. My guess would be he beds there on north wind to smell behind him, while he can watch in front of him out in the field. May be best to wait on a north wind. Just my opinion
If you're 24 feet up and he's 10 yards away, the arrow is roughly entering at a 45 degree angle....should be a good shot, double lung.
Yeah, slightly less than 45, that's what i tried to imply with my graphic. The main question is did it go above or below the spine. Above it is a single lung and hopefully shredded, below and it is a double lung most certainly. While there is no void, you can be above the near side lung
I think you’re probably right about the north wind. He was there Friday when we had that cold front and north wind. Unfortunately it’s my eastern shore spot and about a 2 hour drive. I have tomorrow to hunt so I’m gonna go. Maybe I’ll catch him moving around down along the creek? Edit- that point where he beds is a small ravine with pretty steep edges on the east and west. It’s pretty thick in through there. Any advice for tomorrow? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Sitting in the tree. Every time I go to get down another deer comes in. I've seen 6 since 12. Bucks are grunting everywhere Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Exactly. Going to head up to the house when I get down to eat something and charge the phone. Gonna head in at 3-330 Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I would be hunting that creek if it was me. It runs east to west and with a south wind, it gives the bucks a opportunity to scent check all the fields with out ever stepping out in them. I would hug that creek tight.
