I believe my rangefinder finally had its last run last night, apparently it thinks everything is 4.4 yards away. Any recommendations for range finders? It would be used just for bow hunting, I have a separate one for rifle.
I have an old nikon laser 800...has worked awesome! &according to the printing on the side... waterproof! (Arent they all now days?!) Im interested in a reasonable priced LR one for rifle! Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
I picked up a Sig Kilo850 yesterday since mine quit also. Haven’t got to really try it out yet though. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I have the Bushnell Scout DX 1000 that compensates for angle (ARC) and also has a rifle setting. It is good. I usually pre range set spots when setting up, and will say that if I could do it all over, I would find one with an illuminated readout. I can never make out the readings in really low light. Other than that, it was affordable and does a great job in most conditions, is waterproof, fog proof, etc.
personally, for bowhunting I rock the Halo XRT7 and have had no issues with it, going on two seasons. it's rather inexpensive compared to some I see out there but would recommend this one to anyone looking.
I was looking into Halo. Little worried about the price, firm believer in you get what you pay for. Is it cheaper just because it’s designed for shorter yardage and still has good build quality? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
not too bright at all, just right in my opinion. being able to self adjust is great to personalize for your eyes and each sit/time of day is great.
the price range made me question it as well but for the use I need it for it has done me wonders, haven't had to change the battery in it once and used it for two seasons, as well as the adjusting dawn/dusk setting is great to adjust to personalize for your eyes. I got it on sale and very glad I did
I bought the Bushnell "The Truth" rangefinder 5 years ago. Never had an issue with it and still on the original batteries. Here is an Amazon link. I think I got mine on sale though. https://www.amazon.com/Bushnell-Pri...pID=41auXbnLDwL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
I use a Leupold RX1000i. They also make a Bowhunting specific rangefinder, but I️ believe it has an LCD display rather than LED, which I️ love in the RX1000i. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
How do any of these work in low light? I found out that it is more of a lighting thing. It works fine up until about 10 to 15 minutes after sundown, otherwise known as primetime.
I have a sig850 and it works great however no backlighting on the readout and i find it almost impossible to read early morning and late evening. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It’s weird I can read the output it’s just when it gets close to end of shooting light the rangefinder will say everything is 5 yards or closer. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I think most of them will work during dark, you just can't read the measurement if the numbers aren't illuminated. I hadn't really thought of that but have never tried to range anything with mine that close to dark I guess.
Don't buy the hype. The cheap ones at your local sporting goods store does the exact same thing the $$$ ones do Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Have you pulled the trigger on a rangefinder yet? If so, What did you get? I Have/had the WGI w/AI (Angle intelligence) dated and bought in 2011. Not sure the model as it isn't on it? It was a very good range finder and kept up with the higher-end Leopold I have until the other day when I forgot it in my top fatigue shirt pocket, then tossed my hunting clothes in the washer. 5 minutes later I realized my mistake, but it was too late. It was full of water, and the blow dryer and rice didn't revive it, it was DEAD. After a little research I bought the Bushnell Trophy Extreme w/ARC, just 2 days ago. Wally World had it for $228, but they (store) matched their on-line price of $172. As far as low light, this has no backlight. But I already know the distances within my bow stand area, so I don't mind it w/o the backlight. It also has only the ARC mode, but that's okay bc I have the Leupold for straight-line ranging. g/l on your choice and let us know what you buy, and why (the selling points).
