Last night I was out behind the house. I was set up in the triangle, there is 3 fields. I was just set up to view the deer movement, so I could move in to make a kill for this weekend. However the opptunty came and I didn't wast it. I had a field to my left / west, 1 to my northeast, and 1 to my south east.

I had the wind coming from the north to south. As I was sitting there I heard a deer blow out in front of me and to my left. But she couldn't smell me as the wind was coming from her to me. She was about 45 / 55 yards away. She was nerves, she kept turning around leaving then she would turn around and come towards me. She came into about 25 yards straight onto me and she turned around and walked away. I thought it was over. She went back to my left (west) where she came from, she made it 15 yards and turned around again and headed east. However she was 50 yards away. I figured it was over so I took my release clip off of my string. As I watched her walk away she turned and started to turn towards me, as she was headed to the field to the south east of me. I had seen earlier that the farmer was spreading manure.

I picked a spot where there was an opening, I figured it was 30 yards. She walked into that spot and I "meah" she stopped, I put my 30 yard pin on her and squeezed the trigger. I heard the THWACK, I pinned wheeled her. She shot out that spot, as I watched her run away.. she disappeared into the woods. Then I heard the thud, I knew she was down. I then saw a bunch of tails go everywhere in the woods. I didn't know all those deer where there. I then heard more deer blowing.

I went to look for her and the light was fading fast. She fell right on a tractor path (farmers path to get between the fields.)

Hot dog congrats MUD!! I'll be out this afternoon fellas for the second time of the year. Got a stand that needs Easterly winds along a clover plot near bedding....I may slip in there but if I do it is Bertier or big buck only...no doe from there this time of year will be taken. IF I go with another spot (riverbottom spot) there a doe comes by of good size I'll probably let an arrow fly.

Will keep ya posted. Rain stopping around Noon/1PM...plan is to be walking in around 2PM or so.

    More to come..

Going Friday night to put in a ground blind on a grassy ditch in preparation for a Saturday morning doe kill I hope!

Seen deer walking this ditch to many times the last couple of years heading to their beds.

If it happens it will be in the first hour of daylight...

Lots of movement early this evening.. Had a spike and a button standing in the yard when I got home at 3:30... Looks like I should have planned on hunting tonight...

Had one of those great hunts but didn't see a thing. With the rains prior everything was silent walking in and out...no bumps or blows or anything. Really pictured something happening but just wasn't to be. Was another solid practice of setting up and tearing down my camera gear which is a new thing this year...really does add some time and set up for sure.

Nice job mud. We are slaying the does. Hopefully that translates well during the rut.

This is my third year filming and there is definitely a learning curve to packing the gear and getting it set up. The hardest for me is trying to hunt out of a climber with all my gear. My bag was so heavy I couldn't pull it up with the paracord I was using for my bow rope.

It is really cool when you get good footage and can share it with your family and friends though. How many times have you told a story about your hunt and really wish they could've seen it. I got every bit of me and my sons hunt of film. Cant wait to see the finished product.

What type of equipment do you have?
