I forgot my harness last year and noticed it when I got to my spot. I actually went back home to get my harness and then hunted. I was pretty mad at myself for forgetting but glad I went back for it.

 

Will not hunt with out a harness from a tree stand period! If i don't have it I hunt from the ground or from our enclosed shacks. Sometimes just glass to put a plan together for the next hunt.

 

If it ever happened, I would definitely not hunt unless I had a ground stand option.

With Narcolepsy it is pretty much guaranteed that I will doze when in the stand so not being strapped in is not an option.

Even if just the strap harnesses that come with stands, I always have 2 or 3 packed in my totes.

 

I'd hunt anyway...screw it. Go ahead and open fire.

 

I really wish you'd think about that until you changed your mind. Treestand accidents can be completely life changing. Going on 4 years and 13 days since mine.

 

Got to my tree and started to hook into my lifeline. That’s when I realized I didn’t have my harness. Luckily I was 3 minute drive from home. Went and got harness and went back to the woods and still managed to be in my tree right before legal light. That was this morning.

 

I would hunt from the ground

 

Hmm lets see. Risk falling and obtaining serious injury and death or hunt from the ground/go home and get harness. No deer, duck, fish, etc etc is worth dying over. No brainer.

It's just 20-30', big whoop.

 

I was obviously posting spam.
I'd just go to one of the Redneck elevated blinds or one of my home made elevated blinds. I have at least one on every farm pretty close to my ladders.

 

I actually did that the other day after my buddy took my harness. I used two big nylon straps and fashioned a harness. It could have held 500 lbs. Lol

I see folks die from 4-6 foot falls all the time. Step ladders make me nervous. I'd hunt from the ground.

You do?! How many people have you seen die from 4-6' falls?! What is "all the time"? Like once a day...maybe it's your presence...maybe you're death incarnate.

I couldn't tell you off the top of my head exactly how many of those cases I've handled. I've dealt with 3 in the past month. Im not there when it happens. I just deal with the aftermath. More often than not they die of a skull fracture/brain bleed. Sometimes punctured organs. Falls from any height are no joke.

 

I’d hunt.
I work construction and am in much more dangerous situations that a treestand pretty regularly.
If I sat at a desk all day or was afraid of heights my answer would be different.
