Scored a bargain on the Craig's list the guy had no idea what he had, the boat belonged to his inlaws. He just wanted it out of his yard. I beat over 20 responders to the ad to get to the guys house with $100 and a boat trailer. The pics show an old tin boat when it is done next spring it will be stunning, well to fans of tinners it will be beautiful. This will be a bargain restoration primarily cleaning and prep for painting. I have acquired many parts over the last couple of years. I have the windshield and steering sitting on the shelf.

To an Alumacraft collector 5-7 hundred. With the windshield on it in good shape add another $350.

Oh I will, I have a 1958 Mercury Mark 55 40hp motor that is about 3/4 rebuild I just need to put the mag tower and the carbs back on. The biggest expense will be the seat cushions that will have to be custom made. Not sure what color I am going to paint, I do know it will not be red.

I guess it was incumbent on the seller to do a little more due dilangence ...but ok

Yeah that is why I jumped on it, the lack of due diligence. Some people just see them as an old boat, I suppose the boat when it is done I could sell it for $3500 or so. I will probably keep the boat when I am done redoing it, I am kinda an alumacraft junkie. I do have to do something though I have 5 boats and only room for 3 in the garages.

You got a better deal and have more knowledge on the matter. I picked one up last October and worked on it off and on.

Offered $275 for the boat, trailer and 2 motors. '99 Johnson 8hp fired on the 4th pull after replacing the coil pack. Evinrude 15hp needs a lot of work.

Price to restore leaves me a couple hundred to the good side should I sell it. Trailer need a bit more tweaking, was originally for a V bottom.

Fun to do, but think I'll buy a working and in condition one next time

Cls, you didn't use green treated plywood did you? Green treated reacts to aluminum in a bad way.

No sir, floors are aluminum sheeting. Transom just basic plywood and coated with penetrating epoxy.

Was going to carpet everything, then got to thinking I had my bed matt for my truck so cut it up for the two center sections. Can pull it and hose off, probably do the same once the front carpet wears out or peels up

I am getting wiser, normally there would be budget concerns from the Mrs well I started asker he about colors and the seat cushions. She is going shopping with her friend to find the proper color and materials and using her friend that does apolstry to make the cushions.

Going with a deep blue and tan for colors going to look good with the bright trim and a synthetic teak floor. Not going to repaint the motor.

I would like to punch the person who put tape on the gunnels and trim a year or two ago, it comes off in little pieces using a razor blade, sticky mess.
