Been working on this setup since last spring. Did film a few turkey hunts with the stock camera. Can't wait to start running her for deer.

    Panasonic HC-X1 camera
    RODE NTG2 XLR shotgun mic
    Feelworld FW74K monitor
    Libec ZFC-5HD remote

Nice. Get a good camera arm, as that will be a beast in the tree.

Is the lag on that monitor manageable?

I'm anxious to hear about that too and how manageable the latency/lag is

Way to early to tell. Already found one negative, it doesn't tell you whether your recording or not from what I've seen. Haven't filmed a lot with it yet.

Currently I have a Muddy Pro Arm and Manfrotto head but I don't think it's gonna be heavy duty enough. So I'm looking at the 4th arrow arm.

Haven't filmed in 4K yet but from the little I've done there isn't much lag in 1080.

I would recommend the Stiff Arm Pro with your setup. Adds some bulk and weight to your pack, but the reach and weight capacity is pretty solid with it.

That camera setup is a beast man. That's a top shelf setup. I'm not familiar with those cameras though, how's the color and quality compare to say Canon or Sony?

Canon seems to really excel in this category.

I thought long and hard about whether to go 4K or not. There's some serious advantages for self filming. The biggest advantage is being able to crop and zoom but not lose a tremendous amount of resolution which seems to make 1080 cameras almost unusable.

However, the main reason I didn't go that direction is the massive file size and the added complication of editing. Even though I know you can shoot in 1080 as well.

I was just familiar with Canon, which is why I went with the G40. Since you went 4K though, that camera should last a very, very long time

I've been shooting in 1080 all this time because of not having a computer available to edit 4k yet.

The way I look at it, I'm set for pretty much life camera wise now.

For bad weather days I'm still gonna roll out with the old Canon Vixia because it does such a good job.

Haha, until the next big thing comes along :) I noticed Sony just introduced a new camera similar to mine, but with autofocus like on my A6300. That would be nice, plus it does super slow motion. I'm kinda a gear junky so I'm always wishing :)

Not only did Sony just announce three new cameras, but Canon has announced that they are moving into the 4K sector with cameras similar in form factor to the older XA30 line. Canon is bringing their Dual Pixel AF system over from the DSLR platform as well. Just when things seem to have stalled out, both major players drop some cool new gear.
