Dad and I went to our lease in New Jersey today and hung two ladder stands. Very happy with my set up in a hedgerow between a massive corn field and a large alfalfa field. Pulled the camera cards and there were 5-7 really good shooters, one was a 8 or 10 with giant browtines which one split. There was also a gigantic bear. I will post the trail camera pictures when I get home. Here's the views from my stand September 9th can't get here soon enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like a good background. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G930R6 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Very nice setup. I need to learn to not clear so much around stand. Lots of cover and nice shooting lanes Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I've had that problem a lot so I kept my dad on the ground and he told me when I had enough cleared Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dadburn nice ones! I bet you guys are stoked. Good looking set up too. Sometimes harder to hide ladder stands but that one is in good shape.
Looks like a great spot and a very nice hit list buck. Do you brush your stands in. We always cut some oak branches or pine branches and zip tie or bungee cord them around the stand to provide cover for when we are sitting in the stand. I prefer oak because the leaves will stay on all season. Just preparing to brush our stands in during the next couple of weeks.
You want to keep your spot as natural as possible only because deer can pick out changes in their areas and will sometimes avoid them. Hopefully your spot is in a September zone? With all the rain this year the corn could get cut later then usual due to the less then ideal drying conditions so the local deer could stay on the summer patterns longer?
I live in zone 5. I hunt 5 for a couple of weeks then head over to zone 1. I wish they would change a few things in 5 as it gets POUNDED in a lot of areas. The numbers are not what they used to be.
I have lived in zone 5 for over 37 years and the biggest threat to the overall numbers is the unlimited harvest after Jan. 1st I have run into guys in parking lots bragging about taking 15 and 20 deer just because they can. Sad, they will be the first to cry about license prices and no animals. Whatever. It looks like you have a good spot, good luck this season I hope you and your dad score on the big ones.
Thank you, yea unlimited is a bad call, but it is what it is. I know we will limit our harvest to one or two does. And good luck!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
