Finally found some time this year to build a stand that I wanted for 3 years now. I ran across a good deal on a fiber glass hut which was used in the oil field to keep pumps out of the weather. The huts required a lot of fiberglass repair which was a learning curve that I had to figure out. Once I had the fiberglass repair done. I had to come up with a platform that could give me the height, stability, and mobility that I wanted. After couple hours of brain storming and drafting couple ideas. I finally decide to settle with this idea. After making few trips to the lumber yard, I was finally on my way to making a tower stand. The platform only took two weekends to build. Could of easily been done with 2 guys in one weekend, but I was lacking help. A lot of people attempted to convince me out of this idea, however I insisted it could be practical. Since the platform was done. I could focus my time back to the fiberglass hut. I ended up painting the inside and outside of the blind. After doing some research online I ended up buying 7 deluxe hinge windows from Deer view. Installing was a breeze and I could not be any happier with them. Finally the hut was completed. Now the hard part was to instal this hut on to the platform which is 10ft tall. I ended up using a pickup, tow rope, and cotton wood branch to lift the hut onto the platform. Here the finished product. I have already towed it 25 miles where all of my family's lands is. The stand is 15ft tall to the roof and the fiberglass hut is 5ft by 5ft. I also built a box on the trailer that hold a 5 Gallon propane tank and a car battery used for lighting. I learned a lot from this project, and pretty happy how it turned out. Good luck. I'd never get that more than 10 yards into the woods from the shack. When we move stands they have to be laid down and stood back up.
The windows are on hinges. There's a little 2 tabs that rotate to unlock the window and the window require a pull inwards. The vertical windows open to the left and right depending on the location in the blind. The bottom side windows fall Down, and side top windows open up and attaches to a magnetic. In North Dakota trees are not a issue. Mostly pasture land, however when on the river bottoms I tend to drive field edges and place it on the field edges. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
