I'm just venting here. Our plots started out looking great this year. The beans were tall and thick, the clover was doing just as good. I'm not complaining about getting rain, but too much at one time is down right destructive. We rec'd 12.5" between the 13th of July and August 6th. I know this sounds like a great amount in that time frame, but 4.5" came twice within 10 days of each other, one of the 4.5" amounts came in 3 hours. The corn, our income crop, is doing AWESOME, but the beans are a muddy mess. I guess the only good thing is that I'll definitely be able to tell where to mow them down and plant our winter greens, we just need the standing water to go away.
I haven't mowed my lawn in a month and a half.... can you guess what my plots look like? Lol. I doubt we've had more then an inch of rain since July 1st and .4 inches came down the other day... Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

My frost seeded clover/chicory plots are looking pretty good. I'm actually surprised, thought the grasses were going to take over but the mowing I did really helped it. Neighbor started discing up my newest plot today. Since it didn't get sprayed it's going to need a few discings to get it torn up just right. It should be ready to plant in another week or so after we let the grass die a bit and finish ripping it up.
I have a issue with grass trying to take over my alfalfa, it's about 6-8 inches right now. Should I now it down to let the alfalfa grow up passed? Any suggestions Mike4christ
Clover plot planted last fall with winter rye, peas and radish. Haven't touched it this year except for mowing 3weeks ago. Weeds were 5ft high. Gave the clover a nice canopy to grow under. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just went and mowed my clover/chicory for the last time this year and I see the turnips are coming up that I planted 2 weeks ago looks like I missed a few spots but my spreader quit half way though so I spread the rest by hand.
I planted 3 acres of soybeans and they are getting demolished by the deer right now. I won't have anything left. I tried planting turnips over them because the beans are not going to mature. Because the beans did not canopy the weeds have come. I sprayed yesterday the best I could with a hand pump sprayer. I will plant the wheat if the Round Up works on the weeds. May mix in some more turnips but it's getting late for those. I have what I think are 21 different bucks, along with some does and fawns, using my beans. It's incredible what is in them nearly every night.
Yeah that box with the seed inside contained annual ryegrass seed, kind of ironic that I consider that seed to be the biggest rip off in the food plot seed industry. The correct winter pea seed was delivered yesterday, hope to get the seed in the ground tomorrow.

We were spared the major rains probably got 2-1/2" over the week. Going to mow and till. I was thinking over over seeding the peas with a clover mix.
Rented the tiller did a big U shape in the 1/4 acre plot. Took a leap of faith to till under good clover. I also noticed frost seeding of chickory was an utter failure.
