So not sure this is the spot for this topic but curious on everyone's opinion on this. https://www.google.com/amp/relay.na.../2017/06/tick-bite-meat-allergy-spreading-spd Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
No doubt developed by global warming worshippers to force outdoorsmen and women to stop eating meat. They'll turn us all into vegetarian hippies yet!
It's no joke. I know of at least 2 fellow hunters here in TN that have it. We have a major tick/disease problem here in TN. My wife has chronic Lyme and Bartonella... Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I know a non hunter that was rushed to the hospital after a big steak meal. They told him he had the meat allergy from a tick. He had early symptoms but brushed it off as indigestion
No but some people seem to get a bit better after several years. And read up on other tick borne diseased like Powassan virus...nasty critters. Just ordered more permethrin.
I'm down in FL but wear Rhino skin top and bottoms with permethrin on them before I hit the woods. Their new stuff does not come in camo but it says it also stops mosquitos and breaths better. My buddy got chewed up last weekend by ticks and I only had one on my hand. Brought home a lot of pork as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Before you ask. Extreme quartering away shot with a two blade Wasp Jak-Knife. Ran 20yds and took a dirt nap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What?! This is madness! Little terrorists. I think if I contracted this disease I would fall into a deep depression Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It is like any other allergy. I actually have it. I have not stopped eating meat. Everytime I do I will break out in a weird looking rash and sometimes even get small hives. Really doesn't itch much though. I have a light reaction to it. Next time I get the rash I'll post pics of it.
The last couple years when processing my own deer my hands and forearms break out into hives. I just bought nitrile gloves and it doesnt happen when i wear them. Dont get sick from eating meat though
The only "opinion" anyone could possibly have about this is that it sucks to have it. Its a confirmed virus that has affected many people. My best hunting bud has it. He hasn't had a beef steak in 10 years, but fortunately he can eat all the venison he wants.
A guy at work got it. He was in and out of the hospital before they finally figured out what it was. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
he can eat pork and venison but not beef or lamb. Can eat chicken too but this disease is applicable to mammalian meats.
interesting you can eat venison, i thought it was all red meat; if i couldnt eat vension I would end up becoming a 100% bird hunter
It doesn't sound like he has the Alpha Gal allergy which makes you allergic mammalian meat...maybe something similar.
