Figured I'd get this year's thread rolling. Thinking about getting an A frame style blind for this upcoming season. Anyone on here use one? Have looked at A Frames and Tangelfree panel blind in person and others online. I see Redneck Blinds make one now too. Might build my own this year with 2x2s that'll fit in my truck bed without taking anything apart or something out of conduit (cousin is an electrician so I should be able to get plenty of scraps for cheap). What's everyone else doing to get ready this year? New gear? Taking any trips?
Nothing really new, but my kids are really wanting to go this year. (9 and 6) the 6 year old is obsessed with it. Might try and pick up a semi auto 20 for my 9 yo, who will be 10 by then. I'm actually more excited about duck season than deer season this year.
Me personally I'm not doing anything to prepare - but I am looking forward to going back to Cape Cod for our sea duck hunt in December. I should be getting my ducks from last year back next week from the taxidermist. My husband however - he has everything airing out and getting organized - two and a half months ahead of schedule. I'll do early goose with him - then moving on to archery and he'll get deep into ducks and geese.
Picking up a Nucanoe next week to use on our tough to reach spots that my boat won't get to. I'll also pick up another doz or two mallard floaters. I really want to grab that SBE3 as well. Got my pintail back from the taxi a few weeks ago. That just got me fired up to get after them again this year.
I'll be going back to Minnesota for honkers in December. Possibly tagging along with my uncle to Canada this Sept. our floating tank of a duck blind needs too much work to deal with. It's 22ft long Steel framed monstrosity floating on 24 blue barrels. She did her job but it's time to rebuild. She has been too high maintenance . Hopefully I will have time to make it happen. Great looking mount! I am disappointed with mine from what I seen...they were just finishing up drying when I was sent a picture. We'll see. If anyone sees any good deals on decoys (full body geese and some floater ducks) - please feel free to share.
I've got some honker shells I'm thinking about selling but with shipping you'd probably be better off with new.
I got a bufflehead pair. The drake had some beautiful coloring - so I got them as a "dead mount" with the drakes wing open to show off the color. But, the board, unless he cuts it by the time we get it - is HUGE! I could easily hang at least four-six more ducks on it. My husband also got a drake eider - but his is a flying mount to go with his banded hen from two years ago. We have two dozen shells - I'm thinking we're going to go with some more full bodies right now. Thanks though!

Awesome, came out GREAT!!! Still waiting on one to mount, def a must have for me! Missed my opportunity last season when i got out of the blind to adjust our decoys and of course as always, BAM here comes one lone drake that flew right over me at 10 yards and my gun was in the blind! Right now I'm still waiting on my Drake and Hen mallards from last season, can't wait!
Only new news I have are these AWESOME little studs!!!!! Our new hunting buddies, Drake and Mojo, 8 weeks old! They love the water already!!!!
For anyone using silhouettes - what are you using? Back when I first started I had a few dozen of them but started to shy away. I'm sick of hauling shells around so decided to sell most of them and plan to add some silhouettes back into my spread. I've used Real Geese, Outlaws and Big Al's in the past. I think I'm going to give Divebombs a try as they have the nicest price point.

I'm more excited this year than ever. I still gotta pick up some full body mallards and miscellaneous things but other than that I'm ready to rock. I only have class two days a week this fall semester so I'll have some major hunting to do to fill in the rest of the week Guys in cold weather states- what are you using for decoy gloves? I was going to try PVC coated this year, all I've had are neoprene pairs and they've all sucked something major.
