Buying used trail cameras in case they get stolen?

I am hunting a piece of public land and am gonna hang some cameras, but I am thinking of buying some used ones for this purpose in case they get stolen. So, I was wondering if anyone had experienced with used cheaper cameras off ebay, craigslist etc? Seems Wildgame innovations is the most inexpensive brand.

Of course I'm gonna be smart about it and hang them high where someone would need a climber to get to them, but that doesn't guarantee one won't get lifted.

 

I wouldn't want to risk that what I'm buying used online isn't already stolen.

Can still get Stealthcam G30 for around $70 on Amazon.

 

I think trail cameras would be the last thing I would personally buy used when it comes to hunting equipment.

 

Does not sound like a good idea, I would buy a cheap one instead. With a cheap camera on public land sounds like a low probability venture.

I would not mess with used cam's. You are buying someone else's problem. Definitely not wildgame cam's.

Might want to look into refurbished.

 

I've bought a lot of refurbished ones in the past and have always been happy with them.

If you want used, I have 4x Moultrie D55-IRXT's that work great that I'd sell for cheap. I just don't use them anymore. For $60 shipped I'd send all 4x of them to you and will test each before I send.

 

I recently bought a couple refurbished ones for $50 each.

Agreed. A close second are feeders.

 

I second this line of thinking. I wouldn't want to reward a potential thief by buying used cameras online.

Id go refurbished I know camofire runs some decent deals on refurbs quite often

 

I would go with a refurb too. I hang all my trail cams 12 feet or higher and it does prevent thefts. Very few people look up when they walk in the woods. FYI..when you hang them high, pick a tree with a lot of limbs and cover. That makes it hard for someone to use a climber to get to it.

 

used wildgame innovations and pretty happy with them. usually wait for sales and get them for 40 bucks or less.
