I let a jake pass today and shot three times at one long beard with the shotgun. Missed all three shots. :-( 20, 24 and 34 yards.

Honestly guys, i'm considering just going with the gun this year instead of the bow since i'm limited to 3 days. Being sick for a month I didnt really get time to practice and/or had the energy to practice. Hope you guys understand.

Shot a Jake yesterday afternoon. Missed a big Tom. Couldn't resist when he came by at 19 yards.

Have you ever heard that if caveman knew how to make ice cream he would probably eat it every day: if caveman knew how to make a shotgun and use it, he would use it every day instead of a bow. I learned from this season a lot from using a bow vs a shot gun, it is challenging but it can be done. Get a pruner build yourself a natural ground blind, use the trees to hide your pull and your self, face the direction that they are going to come from. ( face the gobble). Pull while they face away, Shoot them in the ass. Lighter arrows will do the job, it is better to keep the arrow in the turkey than a complete pass through. That's just some of what I have learn from my first turkey season.

This all sounds good, until they do something unexpected.

Man had a blast in MO with Carter just couldn't get the turkeys to cooperate with us! Mother Nature also had different plans! Rain rain rain! Still was a great time for my first time hunting out of state! I'll try closing in on a bird tonight and tomorrow. Still have plenty of birds and time here in Kansas so hopefully I can make it happen!!!

Our season is over. It was terribly rough. After youth season they just didn't gobble very well at the areas that I have permission to hunt. I've heard in other places around here the birds will gobble like crazy one day then not at all the next. It is the weirdest season I've had turkey hunting.

Good Luck to everyone with some season left!!
