Hi, I'm from Texas and I recently got into archery in last December. The bow I'm using is the Matthews Halon 32. I have a question though. I've been practicing for about a month or so. It seems like my accuracy hasnt improved much beyond 20 yards. Are there any tips to improve my accuracy at longer distances? Thank you in advance
Welcome fellow Texan. Did yo have your bow professionally set up for you and what is it that your shots are doing? Are your point of impact consistent or are they all over the place? What have you done to try to correct the problem.
It was professionally set up. And my point of impact is kind of in between. Most of the time they are consistent but sometimes one or two are way off. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Welcome to the forum. Couple of things. One have you had your bow tuned? If not it might not be us but that the bow is out of tune. So many people give up on archery because they don't think they are good at it but in reality their equipment does not fit or has not been setup appropriately for them. YouTube is an awesome reference. Check out videos on paper tuning, french tuning and broadhead tuning. Next once you have the bow tuned check out videos on proper archery form and follow through. John Dudley has several good videos out their on how to shoot better. Once you have that covered its then all about practice. I generally shoot as far s I can to work out any form kinks. At max now due to available space its 60 yards for me. Dont start there though. Get solid at 20 then move back slowly to 30, 40, 50 ..etc It will come but will take time. Having a bow that is tuned and fits you is key though.
Well first the measured my wing span to make sure the bow fits. The rest I really don't know. It was my first time getting a bow and it was at an archery shop that a friend sent me to. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Howdy and welcome to the forums! Make sure your comfy with the poundage your shooting and not tireing out quick. Prctice a good follow through, learn how not to torque your bow (grip) practice at longer ranges and your 20 yards will tighten up.
