Most of the deer might not care about the sound a ratchet strap makes which is totally NOT a natural sound in the woods like crunching leaves but a 4+ old buck will care more times then not. Being under 100 yards from buck bedding I'm not willing to risk blowing the set up. I want to put everything I can in my favor less un-natural noise the better and all my metal parts are covered with hockey tape so no metal to metal noise.
I'll show you a better way to carry your sticks: ;-) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YHw0FW1Tcr4 Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Got setting up the stand under 3 1/2 mins, the way I carry the sticks is to put two and two together in each side with a piece of bungee cord attach to the top and the bottom of the stand. As far as carrying the sticks and taking them off my harness, that's a secret. It is magic!!! Haha!! Forgot to mention packing it back up under 3 mins, can't wait for deer season. Looking forward to turkey season this month. It is all practice. And of course a little bit of good physical shape. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
seems like they pop in and out of that bracket pretty easy. the first time I caught my sticks on something solid it would most likely rip them off the stand. stopping to reattach them would get irritating. some kind of lock to ensure stick attachment while walking would be better. I also wonder how many times you can take your sticks in and out before wearing out the plastic? it is a good idea just a few concerns.
This is going to be my first season with a hang on stand, i also have a climber, I have been practicing for almost two months almost every day setting up and shooting from the hang on stand just to get used to it, it is different the hang on from the climber but it is a lot more quiet than the climber. I feel you about getting warm, I play the wind but even in some situations, I have seen deer take the same route I took. So who knows. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
A lot is experimenting and also trial and error. One we start warming up to 50s in going to devote some time to practice. Thanks for the reply! sent from my mini hand held phone
