Target Repair Question: Great Stuff aerosol insulation foam. Is there a difference in buying better quality for this application? Is there a better option for closed foam targets to buy local and cheap? I need to repair this target. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah, it will shoot out faster. I used to have a friend that did some good repairs with it though. I'm not sure what he used. He did have about 20, 3D's though and that made them last longer. Do you know of an alternative? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
From what I hear, you need the Great Stuff Pond and Stone spray foam. It comes in a green can. Be careful, they have two different green cans. I have not tried this myself. I tried the regular Great Stuff foam from a red can and had poor results. Didn't last long enough to justify the work that was put into it.
Start shooting at those spots instead of shooting groups in the middle of the target. Spread the damage.
That's a good idea. This is my broadhead testing target. A miss can be catastrophic. I have an 18-1 Rinehart for field tips. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I used the flexshot rubber adhesive clear sealant to fix a Rhineharet 18-1 target that was really shot out. the can has a couple inch tube on it so you can inject it in the target and its more than a surface fix. the rubber cures harder than the target but I use only broadheads on it and its worked fine. think it was less than 15 bucks for a can at Lowes.
I have the same target and repaired it with the stuff mentioned in posts 4 and 7 and it works pretty good. give it time to cure, I waited 48 hrs. and it wasn't enough (lol) a week was good to go.
VA Bowbender what type of broadheads are you shooting? Fellow recurve shooter here and and have found that if you're using 2 blade bh's the cheaper loose bails of hay work well.
I have a myriad of broadheads. Over the 50 years that I have been shooting I have amassed many. I know there are many different kinds of target materials that are usable. I just want to know if it is worth spending a bit more for a particular aerosol foam or is the cheaper Great Stuff just as good for this application. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you will spend $30 to fix a target that a replacement is roughly 2/3rds more, I can't believe you don't value your time more.:p
