...with healthcare done right. As opposed to the Obamacare I have paid for since crossing the border.

Healthcare and bigger deer...it is something to ponder. With two kids and a third on the way it is sounding tempting. Unfortunately, I married a southerner.

What does "free" healthcare coverage actually cost for the typical citizen of Canada? Is this something people even know since it is all paid for with tax revenue? I'm asking because I have no idea?

Not sure on the exact numbers but my parents currently pay around 30% income taxes making more than six figures. Given how taxes and insurance premiums skyrocketed over the last several years with Obamacare, between the two I am paying around 40%. My family income is considerably less than six figures. Over the last several years rising insurances costs have more than offset the infrequent raises I have received.

Canadian Healthcare covers pretty much everything except ambulance rides. Couple of years ago my dad broke his ribs. Two nights in the hospital, with meds, xrays, and other normal hospital stay services cost him $40.00.

I must be fortunate as the premium on my employer provided healthcare has changed very little the 8 years I've been there.

You are fortunate indeed. My premiums, co-pays, and out of pocket expenses have all gone up and I have a young healthy family. I can't image how hard is on people that are older or have serious health problems.

Best owner in all of sports passed yesterday...RIP, Mr. I.
Wasn't for him Detroit would have lost both franchises- and no Hockeytown.

I think one of the problems with the NHL is actually finding the game on TV. If you don't have cable, or dish etc you are not going to be able to watch games.

very true. there is little to no advertisement for NHL games. I had no idea there were other outdoor games this year besides the winter classic. Speaking of the winter classic, I didn't see one commercial advertising it. It's a shame. The NHL has a horrible marketing/advertising department. I remember last years winter classic had Billy Idol playing...LOL!!!

My sons team won last night 8-0.

I'm also from Canada now living in the US. My perspective on healthcare is quite opposite though. I never realized how inept the Canadian healthcare system was until I moved here, I'll take the US healthcare system any day.

Should have watched the Red Wing vs Wild game, could have watched Nyquist spear Spurgeon right in the FACE!!

Wasn't the right move by Gustav but, high emotions were definitely part of that dirty play.
