I actually shot this buck late Nov... caught a branch and stuck him in the neck. Lots of blood, jumped him from his first bed. Searched for two days with dogs and found nothing. Here his is three weeks or so later looking healthy

Wow, what an eventful and yet frustrating season. Congrats on the doe, while it didn't end the way you wanted I guess it is a positive you had multiple opportunities.

Not sure I could ever pass one in favor of the camera though  Hopefully they all survive and stick around for next year, shaping up to be a pretty mild winter for the most part. Could be something really special come next season.

Not sure on angle, but that couldn't have missed the juggler or esophagus by much. Guess a swollen neck in rut might have helped him out a bit.

    Hey guys,

Sorry for not checking in more. My season ended a couple days ago with no archery kills. I had been focusing on a 180+ inch buck and ended up only encountering him once at the end of October. He was popular on camera for me, but wise to my tricks. I know he survived the season, so hopefully he messes up for me next year.

I was able to have success gun hunting this year, though.

The antelope was on public land in South Dakota in late September.

The first deer came from public land in western South Dakota in early November.

The second buck was in eastern South Dakota and was harvested around Thanksgiving. He's the coolest buck I've ever seen on hoof, with three main beams. One of them is an 11-inch dagger that comes out right above his eye. I haven't scored him, but I'd imagine he'll be in the 150s or so.

The turkey was on Christmas Eve with my shotgun. He had an 8.25 inch beard. I snuck up on him while crawling on a frozen creek. It was one of my funnest hunts of the year.

Congrats to everyone else who filled a tag this year. Wish I could have contributed to our score!

Well... its hard to put together a TV show if you go around killing stuff NOT on camera :)

The tuft of hair by the white patch on the second buck isn't the scar. If you look close or can zoom in the scar is to the right and just above that on the high side of his neck. Lots of blood but just a muscle hit. I have a better pic of the wound from the other side I'll have to post.

Did you ever get your rack back? Just want to remind you to post in the entry thread. Contest will be closing soon.

    Thanks!

I haven't got the deer back yet, called the taxidermist and asked him to score him for me and he said he wasn't too good at scoring and he didn't want to do it. Never met a taxidermist that didn't know how to score a whitetail but i guess this one doesn't. If i don't get the deer back before the contest ends, ill add a different buck to the contest. Shot a nice 9 point in Mexico a couple weeks ago and working on the episode now. Ive got the antlers to that one and can score him myself. Its been a pretty good season for me! IMG_0289.jpg

That second deer won't count, has to be the first one.

    Congrats on all 3 deer!

I know it's way too late in the season to help us out much but I has a little late season success. I got a doe on Friday the 13th. I'll post it to the scorecard tonight.
