So I'm butchering the deer and there was an infection and a giant bubble of yellow whiteish liquid up on his neck, are the hind quarters alright to continue butchering? I already had them cut off and separate before we got to the infections is any of the meat okay or should I throw it away ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If the meat smells good and looks good you should be fine. I had a buck last year with a huge puss sack by the hind quarter. We cut around it and got it away from the meat. We ate it and everything was fine.
Deer get injuries and infections all the time. If the bad meat was on the neck the hind quarters should be fine. You can tell by look and smell if it's bad. But if it freaks you out toss it because that's all you'll think about while eating it and you won't enjoy it.
