So how many of y'all are eating, or might get tag soup? Its been tough for me. I have till February 7th, and normally I'm tagged out by now. First year hunting alone and setting everything up a decent bit on my own. Thank god for my brothers. But yeah, it's definitely different....

My wife made me stop after three deer and a cow elk this fall since the freezer is full even though I had two tags left.

Remember as you are preparing your tag soup..........................

Don't eat soup. No kind, flavor, brand or any other variety. Thick Chili Stew, or thick beef stew, etc. OK but watery, runny soup, I'm out of there looking for a real meal.

Filled the buck tag this year...ate that tag the last two seasons. I've been trying to fill a doe tag since the season opened...no luck. I switched over to the flintlock and missed one this past Tuesday! Only a couple weeks left till I cook up doe tag soup, if I don't get another shot.

Filled one of my four tags but I'd love to get out one more time and arrow another deer. At least the tag soup I may eat will have some crumbled venison in it.
    Happy 2017!
Keep the faith brothers and sisters. Good luck to us all.

I've used 2 of 5 tags, but neither was a mature buck. 1 doe, 1 spike-fork buck. Hoping for another doe or spike by end of season, 1/15.

Will get a chance for two more afternoons in the stand next weekend. Got a buck both Bow and rifle so I'm not eating a tag, but I do have a Doe tag open that will supply the extended family if I get it filled.

The latest forecast looks like the cold spell is going to pass through sooner than expected a couple days ago which will be nice. Sitting in 15 degrees is much better than in zero degree temps.

I'll likely not be using my buck tag or my 2 antlerless tags this season. I'm OK with that, as I did let a basket 8pt feed past me at 10 yrds, and I also let a mature doe walk by unmolested, thinking she was good buck "bait". lol At this point in my hunting career, it's not so much about the kill, but just being out there.

I'm likely skipping this weekend for work reasons, plus I like October 80 degree days better for meat hunting. We're down to meat only hunts in N. Texas.

Same here. Although, what I passed on as having more potential once he reached maturity, another guy on my lease thought was just fine and stuck an arrow in him.

I didn't see a deer all season, second year in a row eating tag soup. I have a good spoon, so it's not that bad.

Yup it's tag soup for me this year!! Had an absolute great season, seen a couple really nice deer but could never seal the deal. Either too dark, too far away, you know how it goes. I guess they'll just be bigger next year ! Can't say my season wasn't a success because there was a ton of valuable lessons learned and many great hours spent in the stand

I don't know where you guys hunt, but y'all need to check out Mississippi and Alabama. I know neither are known for big bucks, but they're great bow hunting states and I've killed a few dandies.
