Monday morning I shot a good buck, but I hit a little forward. Gave him about 5hrs and went back to find him. Had decent amount of blood, but I think it was just a muscle wound. I looked for 2 days but found nothing. Hoping he is alive and well, and will show back up.
Haven't seen any bucks worth shooting. Between yesterday and today, I've seen 6 different bucks all within 30yds. All of them were a year and a half old and provided pretty good footage. The landowner asked me to shoot any coyotes that I could. I had never seen any or had any trail cam pics of them. That changed this morning around 8:30. Had 2 big coyotes come in, but they stayed out about 70yds. Next time I go hunting I'll have a call for them.
After highs of -10 today. Going out tomorrow afternoon for some late muzzleloader action. 15 degrees for a high should feel nice and get deer in food plots. Not sure if I'll get bow out again for the rest of the hunting year. Still haven't heard of the big one I had on camera getting shot. It wouldn't be a bad thing if he made it to next year though. Hope everyone has a good Christmas. Good luck if you are still hunting. I have until Jan 10 I think to hunt muzzleloader which I can use a bow if I decide to. Still left stands in trees so I can if I want to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The buck I shot a couple weeks ago showed up 10 minutes after I left Saturday. He's still alive, but I'm not sure how. He must be one tough dude. You can see the exit scarred up already. At least I know he's still alive.
Saw 5 bucks tonight. First picture was a younger deer with nice rack. Second one doesn't show it, but it was probably 22 inch wide 8 point. One side of his rack was really weak and other was nice. Both should look great next year. My dad is flipping out that I didn't shoot them. Trying to let deer get mature. Doesn't mean in a quick decision I wouldn't shoot them, because I'm still learning on judging deer. No expert by any means. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice pass man! I missed my number 1 buck saturday night with muzzle loader, going after him with the bow tomorrow evening! fingers crossed the bitter cold and snow has them up a feeding!
Was a full pass through. I'm not sure that is the same deer after really looking at the pics. He seems a little young to be the deer I shot. Also his beams aren't quite as long.
That makes more sense. Couldn't figure out an arrow hitting that spot and not killing the deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Our rut is just kicking off now. I'll be mixing up Bow and Rifle hunts depends on where I am Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well I seen the buck from the trail cam on Wednesday around 1:30. He never got any closer than 55yds, but he's definitely a different deer. He will get an arrow if he slips into bow range before the end of the season.
Went out tonight with little wind and 0-3 degrees. We had some rain that has hardened our snow. Food plot isn't as hot as it once was. Did see a really nice young 10 point. Basically an 8 point with little crab claws on end. He got in range in brush, but didn't want to shoot either way. It got cold after 2 hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well better late than never but I got my buck score entered with 1.5 hours to spare for the contest lol. It was a pleasure being on your team over the past two seasons! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
