What brands do they sell? That is where their allegiance will and should be. Go and talk with them and shoot every one they will let you. Until you know what you like and what you shoot the best, you must shoot them. Once you know what works for you, then you can get into the internet game of buying used or new bows. Of course then you will "HAVE to HAVE" a bow press and just a "FEW" more tools!

listen anyone can tell you to shoot this bow or shoot that bow, If i was you i would try as many bows as you can and see which ones you like the most. Break it down by certain key aspects of a bow that you like the most. then out of that take (X) amount of those bows and basically have a shoot out with them. once you do that you should end up with a bow that you want the most. Good luck with your choice cause there are oh so many of them. :chewy:

I have the Hoyt Carbon Defiant 34 and i love it!...the 34" model shoots like a 37" target bow!, very smooth, quiet and holds great on target!, not the fastest bow out there but I'd rather have quiet and smoothness over speed any day!

I have a Halon X and love it. Really easy to hold with it's 35" axle to axle length.

I shoot a Hoyt but when I went to try the Defiant I have to admit that the Halon was a sweet shooting bow. As others have said, shoot a number and don't get hung up on the brand. Of course, now I can only buy Hoyt since I'd have to reinvest in shirts and caps and put a different sticker on my truck.

I don't think you can go wrong with Hoyt, Mathews or the Prime. Just find which one fits you best and which one feels the best to you.

I shoot a Matthews Z-lite. 2" group at 20 yds. Went to my local bow shop and said I was interested in buying a new bow. He asked how I was shooting my current bow, and I told him. He then asked a very pertinent question. "Then why do you need an new bow?"

I shoot my Bear good and it's very quiet but I want something with a smoother draw and a smoother let off

At least he was honest and didn't push you to get a new bow.

This is just my opinion but I have been shooting for more than 35yrs and I've shot many brands. The smoothest bow I've ever drawn is an Elite. They also have the most solid back wall of any bow I've ever shot. But you definitely want to shoot as many as you can to see what works best for you and your situation. Good luck and welcome to the site!

    Blessings..........Pastorjim

I enjoy shooting my elite impulse 31 a ton, so much so that I was out shooting last night in 20 degree weather and snow storms. I will echo what everyone else says and say shoot as many bows as you can and see what you like. I'm shooting the best I ever have because I enjoy shooting my bow so much that I've put more time in. It's resulted in my best archery/3D seasons yet.

**Shot the Halon 32 and loved it, may be picking up a second bow in the near future

Yesterday went an shot the Defiant and the Halon 32 6. I have always been a Hoyt shooter. No comparison the Mathews beat the Hoyt in all areas.
