I'm looking at upgrading from a whisker biscuit to a good drop away rest for hunting and 3D. Any suggestions? Limb driven or cable? I'm currently looking at the QAD HDX and Nock On Elevate. Thanks in advance.
John Dudleys just come out with his own AAE Elevate rest today. Very versatile. I bought two. Nock On ELEVATE Arrow Rest - Nock On Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like cable driven but that's just me. QAD is what I'd vote for "Couldn't think of a good Signature"
When it comes down to cable or limb, it really boils down to personal preference. If you are inexperienced and installing the rest yourself, I think limb driven is easier to "set up" compared to a cable driven. If you are having a shop install it, really no difference as they both accomplish the same thing. Me, I prefer a limb driven as I just don't like the idea of having something tied onto my cable.
Another vote for QAD Ultra HDX!I have using them for a couple of years and I like them a lot. I have one on both my bows.
Most recommended from my experience is QAD HDX, Limbdriver, Trophy Taker Smackdown Pro any one of those would do fine. Like others said depends on who is setting it up and what bow it's going on.
I have the Smackdown Pro. I also considered the Limbdriver Pro V. Nothing wrong with a QAD as long as it's the HDX. I had a Hunter and had issues with it bouncing back and hitting my fletchings. My groups tightened up a lot when I changed rests. I like the simplicity of a limbdriven rest. Dudley's rest looks nice, but I only hunt with my bow so I don't think it would be worth the extra cost.
I have a QAD HDX on my whitetail rig and loved it so much that I bought another to replace the TT Smackdown (limb driven) on my elk rig. I like the Smackdown but that damn long cord seems to snag going through the brush and on my release when handling the bow at the range. A lot. It's annoying on an otherwise good rest. Also, the QAD is better at containing the arrow. The Smackdown won't lose the arrow completely but will clang around a bit easier than the QAD. I'm no pro shop tech and I installed both the QADs and the Smackdown with no problems.
I prefer the QAD, I like that you can set your arrow in a up position when you are hunting. To me that is one less thing that can go wrong. I was also looking at the apache Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
another vote for qad! i have used them for yrs now on several different bows and have never had any issues at all with them performing.
NAP Nighthawk is what I have and it serves the purpose plus it's cable driven As far as I can tell, it's extremely quiet, except for my quiver which rattles at the shot, which will come off very soon The Nighthawk is a lot cheaper than most other drop away rests It is very similar to the Apache also made my NAP Sent from my Motorola RAZR MAXX using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Thanks. I'm a huge fan of all things Dudley but I just keep hearing great things about QAD and I have a couple cabelas gift cards and points that allow me to try it for no out of pocket cost.
Have you already ordered one? If not, see if Cabela's has the custom HDX versions, they fit flawlessly on the riser for a very sleek look. If not no big deal, just like the way they fit customized to the bow they're made for.
I have bows set up with the QAD HDX and bows with the Trophy Taker Smackdown. My vote is for the Smackdown.
