Late Season Scouting

Hey Everybody!


This past weekend I was able to walk a lot of land with a buddy of mine. We checked out some state land that I never have been on. We walked about 3 miles back and was able to find some really decent buck sign. I thought I'd share some of the rubs that we found. Here are some of the better ones however we did find over 50 rubs which was very encouraging! The thing I take from this is that you can find good buck sign on public land if you scout hard enough!

 

I bet dinks didn't make those. lol

 

I'm thinking you have a spike with anger management issues.

 

Hey guys, I'm a newbie to your board. Wanted to say hi and that's some impressive rubs!! What states do you guys hunt in?? Alabama for me.

I think you are probably correct! But can you imagine how big his neck is!

 

Welcome to the site! I hunt in Wisconsin, mostly bigwoods. You will find people who hunt all over the country! There is a lot of people who have wonderful advice! Glad you're here!

 

Yea, that buck had a real bad attitude. lol

 

Hopefully he is still around. We set up a couple cameras looking to get a few pics of him and others like him!

I'm in North Alabama. Hunting the Tennessee valley and public Tennessee river lands. They are not rubbing like that around here, but maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot...

And by scouting he doesn't mean checking trail cameras. Wow! And here I was thinking that scouting was a dying art.

 

Yeah trail cameras are awesome and definitely have their place, however they don't do scouting for you. In my opinion they are more of a tool used for scouting when you're not there. Also want to add that when you find as much sign as we did it really makes the day enjoyable. Had we not found anything I think it would of had us scratching our heads.
