My first deer came back from the taxidermist looking like a mangy doe. 20 years later, I would like to get a new cape and form for him to be remembered by. Has anybody here had a mount redone? Any tips from experienced taxidermists?

I would think it is all about the cape you supply as far as the finished product. No reason to think a restore with a new cape would not be just like getting a new mount done. How old were you when you shot the buck?

    10. First time out and sitting by myself. He came in to a waterhole at 12 yards and my 40# PSE Outlaw took care of the rest.

Bring it to a good taxidemist. They should have or be able to obtain a nice cape to pair with your rack. It will basically be a new mount but using the antlers from your 20 year old buck.
