Well I've been hunting hard the 4 days and came up empty. Sorry guys. This has been a crazy season for us. I usually have a couple deer in the freezer by now. We have a bunch of idiots out this evening sighting their guns for the gun opener tomorrow. Literally some one is shooting every couple minute..
I wish all my team mates the very best with their season!

Y'all guys that have gun season opening this weekend and soon after, don't worry. Get back after the deer during and after gun season, the deer still need the essentials, food bed water!
I hunt a state that gun opens The second weekend in October and goes out the first of Jan. I still bow hunt and have a lot of luck.
    Good luck!

The orange army is reporting the same here in Nebraska as well. Big cold front hitting Friday here, should be crazy out there.

After the gun season the deer are seldom seen on our property. They head to the swamps and big woods. We have 28 acres with a maybe 8 of it woods ,rest is tillage fields my father in law plants alfalfa. My son in law and I have started clearing spots for food plots the last couple of years. Hopeing to give the deer something to hang around for.. But until then bow season ends when hunting starts. Even though the bow season starts up again after gun season. We never have gotten a deer in the late season here. I don't even get pics on the trail cam's (6 of them) in late season.. they disappear.. so that's why I hunt as much as I can before gun season.

My folks place was that way in NE Missouri. It is all timber. The deer move out after the gun season to be near food sources.
My wife always told me there weren't any deer at her folks place. I knew they just weren't seeing them. It is only 10 acres. Father-in-law used to mow the entire thing. I have a food plot that is just over an acre, wife's aunt and uncle have 10 acres next door, all second growth stuff. WOOLY! It plays the part of the bedding area. Perfect storm for late season hunting. It can be the most productive 20 acres around. It is more than 1 1/2 miles to the nearest ag ground. Now father-in-law only mows the part near the house. I get to play with the rest of it.
Her folks always tell me they had no idea that there were that many deer around.

That's the opposite for me... my place is 3 miles from public land and once gun season opens up we are flooded with deer. Youth gun season opens this weekend and I'll be taking out my little cousin but I'll also have my bow with me. Then normal gun season opens November 28th and i think I'll be going down to my buddies uncles 400acres with a group of 12 guys for that.. haven't got a deer with a gun in like 3 years now and since I already have 2 with the bow I figured why not

Saw a 2.5 yr old 8 point out searching for the next hot doe yesterday. Then about 5 mins before close had two big does come out from across the field, but didn't get by me until after season had ended. Two more days to hunt before gun season opens up for 9 days. I may hunt with my bow opening day since my son has to work. Our archery season goes until the first weekend in January and the end of January in the metro units. I really enjoy hunting the late season. Will be heading out after work today.

I have never had any luck late season where I'm located. We have been really working on our food plots to try and retain deer longer in the winter months. Next year we are going to expand it even more.

I get off work around noon tomorrow then I have to head to hang my 28 lb lazy boy of a climbing tree stand in the woods that I use strictly for gun season. Depending on how quickly all that goes I may try to sneak down below the cabin for a quick evening hunt with my bow to try and put down a doe.

Well I've been working night shifts this week.... 10hr shifts and the jobs supposed to wrap up tonight, HOPEFULLY my boss doesn't have any work lined up for tomorrow night and I can head down to the cabin with my dad and 3 other friends. It's youth gun season this weekend so I expect gun shots all around and I'll be with my bow... just hoping my boss doesn't call me with work because I'm totally fine with working 4-10s lol
