Just arrowed an 8 point. I am going to wait for an before checking the arrow. More info in the live from the stand thread.
I am waiting an hour to checkt the arrow then evaluating from there. If i think it is one lung/liver I will go home and watch the football game and then come back to look.
I ended up waiting until dark before tracking. Almost 2 1/2 hours after shot. Blood was good at impact. I followed it for about 20 yards after impact before losing it int he dark. Backed out and will take it up in the morning.
Well the first season is over for me. It was the worst rutting activity I've ever seen. I'll be taking the bow back out at the end of December for late archery, so it's not over just yet. I'd like to return to Ohio next weekend but I could use a break. Hope you guys keep grinding and get a deer down. Good luck
I grid searched for an hour with no luck. Decided to walk the river edge and saw a deer floating 20 feet off shore. I am waiting on a canoe. It is too deep to wade and there are gators in the river. Can't be sure it is my buck because the head is underwater. But I am the only one who killed last night and ut is 100 yards from my stand.
Fortunately it is cold today. The gators hadn't found it yet. It was like I thought, one lung and liver. If he hadn't stepped when I shot I would have found him last night.
Got my buck cut up and on ice. I will score the rack tomorrow and post to the score card. I am playing with my boys before bed. Had to neglect them with that adventure. Now I am going to sit down and watch some Sunday Night football.
I went to score my buck tonight and had a tick jump on my hand. I killed it and sprayed everything with permethrin on the hide. I will try it tomorrow.
they are heavy this year, friends of mine that have killed deer have seen a ton of them this year. Both of my deer have been loaded with ticks
Scored my buck at 111 5/8. Not bad for an Arkansas 7 Point. I will post on the score card when I get to the office.
