Tree Stand Height

How high do you lads like to go up, I say anything under 30 feet your just fooling around and will spook deer, need to be up at least 40 feet if your a serious hunter...

40 feet is less that 15 yards, you know how close that is of a target on the range, not that far up.. decent angles...fooling around under 30 ft..get your as*** up a bit higher..

 

That sounds like $500 worth of climbing sticks.

40 feet probably works. But being 20 ish and having deer walk right under you none the wiser is a good sign that I don't have to double my distance

hmmm. i've killed just shy of of 200 deer with archery and i don't think i've EVER been over 18feet.
12-14 feet is where i hunt.
God, now i gotta start doing thing over

I like to think MasterHunter is not serious in his posts, that or he is a world class D-bag and Dumbass who perceives his perspective as fact. Thing is his attempts at humor are neither witty or funny, could be part of his perspective problem.

 

I'm 5' 6" so considering where I anchor my longbow I figure I'm right at five feet up above the ground.

Heck , a lot of shots are closer than the heighth you are hunting at.

I like to climb all the way to the top. Less chance of getting spotted that way.

20-25' works just fine with me for height and the last three bucks I've shot with a bow I did from the ground surrounded by natural vegetation!

 

My 4 climbing sticks can get my mobile hang on 26 feet above the ground. Sometimes I sit that high if I have no cover. Other times I'll sit 12 feet off the ground if the cover is good. So to answer your question, 12-26 feet. I prefer 18-20 if I can

 

the search function before asking this question would have illustrated a similar question not long ago, with many responses.
