I know this is a bowhunting contest, but I just wanted to share this buck I shot Friday with my muzzleloader in Nh. They are chasing hard up this way right now!
I keep playing the footage over in my head of that buck chasing a doe this past week. Only thing I can figure is she caught me turning back around since I was looking over my left shoulder, down the hill. It's a dynamite spot I just need to find better back cover for next year.
Well post of shame guys. After sitting all day Fri & Sat I moved to another good spot for a Sunday morning hunt before I had to pack up and head back home. 9:40am I see a great buck coming my way chasing a doe. I get draw back and he come right by my at 20yds and I let an arrow fly. I have my bow mounted Camcorder rolling and think he's actually going to go down on film and he very slowly walks off towards a cypress swamp never to be seen again. Searched the swamp and area for the rest of the afternoon with another guy and but no luck. In slow-mo the exit wound is low under to far shoulder so I think he just laid down or walked through some deep water expired and the lilly pads covered right him over Owner said I would have been one of the larger bucks ever taken on the property but this one was with a bow. Not happy. Feel I need therapy now Thought I was getting some nice points for the team and meat for the freezer. Sorry guys Swamp Buck - YouTube #65 Prime Rival bow with 480 grain Black Eagle Rampage arrows tips with 2'' Wasp expandable BH.
For Central Florida, thats a real nice Buck. Only even caught him on the cameras a few times. Owner is going back out tomorrow to look for the vultures and retrieve the skull and rack.
My hunting vacation has ended. Had some great encounters, but didn't seal the deal with a buck. Still have plenty of time as our season runs until mid January. Will just need to get it done around here. Buddy says the 10 I passed, but videoed was a solid 140-150" buck. Doh...
Man, that really sucks, that shot looked pretty good. Sorry that happened. I hope he finds your deer man, even though you won't get the meat.
Not a lot of action today. Wind switch finally will mark my first all day sit tomorrow(finally). Good luck out there
Well, I voted early so I've decided that since it's probably all going to sh!t tomorrow anyways I would rather be in a tree doing what I love. So I'm going in for my first all day sit without coming out for lunch or anything. Wind looks like it will work and it's going to be 42 degrees in the morning. I got 2 hot does in camera so we will see. Good luck to you man .
Passed a Lil 6 this morning, nothing else was moving. I moved stands and will be here until dark. Sometimes I hate trail cameras because of them telling you where you should have been lol
I had the 10 at 42 yards behind a doe, I just couldn't pull the trigger because I didn't feel good about it.....what a rush and a letdown at the same time.......damnit!!! plus other cuss words!!!
Keep after him Brad! I'm all set up, gonna get a nap in and head out in the morn for another all day sit. Good steady N wind all day.
