I really work on the comfort of my stands during the year just for these long sits. I have a couple of River Edge XL ladder stands that are so comfortable I call them Lazy Boys.
That will be the next person I will read more about. TR Is that the best book on him. I'd be more interested in his US adventures first.
A book I finished this summer was amazing. it was the original Tarzan. all of the movies and stories do nothing for the actual character in the book. he was a complete beast. killing lions with his bare hands. this was not written for kids. The 2nd book sucked but you had to read it to know how it all ends. It is very exciting and will almost certainly have your complete focus, so you won't even notice the deer as it walks by you and your stand.
Another is Chuck Adams books on the first Super Slam with a bow. Super Slam!: Adventures With North American Big Game: Chuck Adams: 9780979513183: Amazon.com: Books
I read a lot, about the only way I can get to sleep at night is to read for awhile first. But never do all day sits so I do not read on stand. I ended up joining Kindle Unlimited because I was spending way too much on books each month LOL.
I'm too busy looking for deer................................... A deer won't have any problem walking undetected near you while reading .
The only reason I shot an 8 point a couple of years ago is because the buck took a leak in the water he was standing in. It's startled me awake:-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Isn't this why we're out there? Try "reading" the woods for a change. These folks that feel the need to "pass the time" on stand should just stay home! Seriously.
Lol!!! My average in college writing and college composition is a 93 and 96 respectively.... Even my professor said I should be a writer and an English major. ( good thing she doesn't see my grammar on here) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I guess it is a lost art, the younger generation won't even consider trying to go without distraction, or entertainment.
Maybe you're not cut out to be an engineer most of us can't spell without googles help! Lucky dog. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Actually I know way more older guys that read on stand than younger. In fact it is really common with trad guys to take a book. Not everybody is out there for the same reasons.
As mentioned, reading keeps me from moving too much. Without something to focus on other than woods I feel I'm moving my head too much scanning around me. I also try to make the most use of a little downtime I do have away from work. But to each his own. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You are right to each their own, good luck everyone be safe and enjoy your hunt no matter what that involves.
Obviously I agree with you to a point but I remember a time where I wanted to pass time on the stand.People enjoy things differently as long as they are doing what they want and it doesn't effect me I don't really care.
