Things might finally be turning around here.
Had a very poor picture of what looked like a decent buck, maybe 120-130. My dad also said he saw a real nice buck Saturday night right by one of my stands. Thought he was 17" wide or so.

Hopefully the neighbors get the rest of their corn off and that will help push the deer back into ours. Been quite a struggle so far this year.

Alright who's been out this week? Are you guys getting out this weekend?

I took the week off from hunting since shooting my buck. I took him to a taxidermist and gave him the cape, and in return he will do a euro mount for no cost! Yeah buddy! I plan on getting back after the big boy this weekend and keep hunting til I find him.

I got out yesterday after work for 3 hours. First hunt in 2 weeks, finally an acceptable wind! I spooked one going in around 3:00PM, saw nothing from my stand, and saw 3 doe on the way out. I'll be in Sat evening!

Oh, I think Holt has the best buck so far in the Contest.

Work and weather are killing me this week. I was going to take Monday off and have a long weekend, but temps in the 80's and very windy isn't sounding good. I'm also busy as heck at work.
Now I might be better off to work this Saturday, bank the hours and take a longer weekend in the next couple of weeks. Think I'll wait till next weekend and maybe a 4 day Halloween trip.
Really dying to get back out though!

Nice buck Holt! I got out for the first time last night! I seen a doe and fawn walking in but nothing while sitting. Was a beautiful night.

Almost had redemption on the doe I missed the first week of the season! She walked by at 20 yards tonight right at the last 5 minutes of light. I pulled back, but wasn't confident in the shot. So she got a pass. She won't be so lucky next time!

I was out yesterday evening, didn't see anything. But, I did see about 10 or 12 scrapes that weren't there last week, which is encouraging. Four of them were on a narrow little trail I clipped for access. As it happens, I'm forced to make my week long rut hunt the last week of this month, instead of the first week of Nov. I'm hoping the chasing will be under way!

Any more bucks showing up on camera yet? Heard a local hunter around me has been seeing some chasing already. He said from mature bucks. I bet if you get that week of Halloween off, you will shoot one!

I'll be back at it this weekend in WI. Only able to hunt all day sits Sat and Sun but last year I had 2 separate shooters on my cams in daylight on Oct 23 so fingers crossed.

Holt, I'll check them again this Sat. That'll be 2 weeks, so I'm hoping to see some antlers, because the following week is "game time" for me! I have no choice, but to hunt that week because of my Pop's situation. I have killed a few in Oct.

Hoping to get out and check cameras this afternoon. Not expecting much since it's been sooooo slow here, but the bucks gotta show up eventually.
With the action being this slow, it's a little hard to be even a little optimistic. If I didn't have the South Dakota trip to look forward to, I don't want to venture a guess in how depressed I'd be! Haha

I'll finally be back out in the morning. Got 3 days to play in the woods!
Here with my 82 year old dad and his deadly crossbow. In a real remote spot that hasn't been hunted yet this year for tomorrow, then heading to more of a farm spot for the weekend.
42 in the morning, high of 58 for the day.
Bring it on and good luck guys!

Loading my truck now, heading strait to WI after work this afternoon. While not as good as I had hoped; temps are looking much better than they have been. Looking like 60/40 splits and even though clear skies all weekend at least the moon is waning. I get decent signal up there so may be able to update from the stand.

Looking forward to next weekend in MI also - on Saturday the 29th a cold front is moving through. Cold front + Halloween + a new moon = Booner boners!

2 small bucks so far this AM. One is a big forkhorn had at 10 yds. Checked my cards late last night have 100s of pix of bucks fighting in the foodplot. Just had the forkhorn run back by.

It's looking like a good weekend here in central WI!!!
