Yea this heat is no good. Had lows of 40s last few days which were really moving the deer but this heat just turns them off. Dont really wanna kill anything when it's 80

It's 88 here right now. Wish I had some field wipes to wipe the sweat away. Can't shoot em if you aren't out there though.

Frustrating night last night. The grandson of renter that lives in a house on the river bottom lease I have decided it would be a good time to take his Jeep out and play in the mud. Was bad enough to have him gunning it through the mud holes making the ruts even deeper, but he actually got hung up in one and started walking back to the house right through the area where i was hunting. I got down and helped pull his jeep out with my UTV.

We had a warm conversation to say the least. After all was said and done I got an agreement with him to text his grandma to let them know when we will be hunting, and he promised not to play while we were there.

We will see how it goes... Any more of that crap and I will be contacting the owner to let him know what is going on...

Well I got bad news in regards to my hunting ground. My buddy/ land owner is selling it. It just went on the market a couple of weeks ago. So depending on when it sells i might be done hunting for awhile. I can always hunt on my dad's property but it would be for meat only. I'm pretty bummed to say the least. Wish I could afford to buy it.

no go for me this weekend. That full moon and high temps really kept them from moving any. We're getting a little cold front during the week so i hope that helps for my long hunt this weekend. i'll keep y'all posted as things develop.

our thread has been awefully quiet. As soon as my clock strikes 4:30, i'm off for my 5 day hunt. I'm going with my dad and a few of his friends that swear up and down this place is an untapped resource for deer and that if i don't kill something, it means i'm just a terrible hunter. lol. I guess we will find out if it's just been my bad luck or the fact that i am indeed a terrible hunter. I'm not sure how the cell signal is up there but i will try my best to keep everyone posted on my progress or lack of progress.

Well boys, last weekend up in Northern MI was fun but no dead deer. Saw a good amount tho which was cool. Honing in my public land skills :ninja:

We have a cold front moving in now, and I will be in the stand tomorrow and Saturday. Hope to get some bucks up on their feet. Corn needs to come down too.

I may take a doe depending on which place I hunt. GL everyone!

I just got to the camp grounds and my tent set up where I'll be staying at till Monday. Suppose to be in the 40s tomorrow so I'll be praying to the deer gods tonight they are moving this weekend. Here's a picture of the view from inside my tent. Getting ready now for an evening sit. I'll be posting updates. Good luck to everyone else this weekend.

Bonehead, l was unable to attach video but yes, a 350 pound black bear showed up on my field cam, twice, now I can't do much till he leaves or they will get destroyed again. If I can post the video I will. I had several good looks the last visit, probably one large doe I should not have given a pass to., But it was like the second session, early in the hunt right, and I wanted to see what else would show up? Anything wrong with doing that?

No worries! ill be putting up some points by the end. Just waiting on 150"+
And possibly a doe cause my grandpa wants some meat too.
I have a decent size 9 coming in every other day but is only 3 years old. Great genetics and think he will be a beast next year.

    Patience grasshopper!

Nothing wrong at all with that Duece.. Like was said before.. This deal is for fun. Don't let it change the way you hunt or for what you want to shoot at...

BTW- I missed a doe this past Sunday evening. She walked straight in on me --- right to the bottom of my ladder steps. I forgot to bend a lot more than normal on the straight down shot. The shot went right over her off side.. It stinks, because I know better to take that shot with out bending a lot at the waist. I have made that mistake to many time.. Excitement over took me..
