I had pics of this bruiser last year and guessed him at 5 1/2 yrs old. The more I look at the pics from this year, the more I'm thinking that this very well could be the same deer that at 6 1/2 is starting to go down hill and maybe damaged the left side of his rack during velvet. What do you guys think??? My apologies for the poor pic quality. Thanks! First 2 pics are from last year. Other pics are this year.
Its tough to say because you never know what they will put on the next year but i wouldnt see that big of a change. Im gonna say different deer.
I agree with Skylar, it appears to be a different deer in the first pics that deer has very distinctive g2's and a different throat patch. It also looks like split brows run in the gene pool where you are because the smaller buck in the first picture looks like he's got a spilt brow as well, good luck getting after them this year!
I think they are different deer, but that's not an issue. This gives you double the chances to see a great deer. Good luck chasing after those this year.
Like others have said, it's hard to tell. Many same characteristics though. I think it is the same buck, only not going down hill due to age, but rather a possible shot from last year. Maybe on the right side? Who knows really, unless you get a pic with them both in it
The split brow on the right side is one reason I feel that it's the same buck. Look at pic 2 & 5, the split brows are identical. And yes, the "smaller" buck in the first pic had several non typical kickers coming off of his bases. I've got better pics of that one in my profile, waiting on the taxidermist to finish the mount.
anybody think these are the same deer. pics are 1 minute apart but the catch is, the day before i caught these two on cam i had seen a batchlor group on the same property. wondering if this is thos same 2 deer or maybe its just 1 deer? one buck looks to have a wider spread than the other
