Do you butcher your deer yourself or take it somewhere?

I usually process all my deer. But once in a while if I don't have the time, I have a guy that is a taxidermist and will butcher a few deer for people. It's not cheap, I try to get 4-5 deer to last for the year. It would cost alot to have that many deer butchered.

Did some more scouting today on some public land and I think I might have found a really nice spot. Lots of sign. Am really excited about this area.

I ended up shooting a nice little 10 pt last week. Much better season then last 2 years! When you get time to get out, there is definitely some big deer running around this year.

With muzzle loader season upon us, does anyone know if orange is required in bow hunting only areas?

Yes. Doesn't matter if it's bow-only or not.

You also need a muzzleloader stamp to hunt with a bow during muzzleloader season while archery is "closed". If you read the actual season regs (and you really should) you will see that archery is "closed" 10/20 then reopens 10/23. During that time you have to have a ML stamp if you want to hunt with a bow.

From 10/23 - 10/29 both archery and ML are open so you can hunt with a bow with or without a ML stamp (or ML with a stamp) but you still need orange since ML is open.

    Crazy regulations, I know.

Yeah it's a pain to keep it all straight. I used to create my own calendar with dates for the seasons and simplified regulations but it's easier to just buy the stamp, hunt with the bow and know I just need orange during ML and firearms. Bag limits are similar for all the seasons unless you plan on taking multiple bucks (if I could be so lucky).

Yes you must wear orange....i dont believe you need a muzzleloader stamp for remaining ML season as archery began again on sunday (but i would get anyway) also any deer you shoot for the rest of this week during Muzzleloader must be checked in under archery and count toward archery bag limits

Get the dnr app it makes it pretty easy to keep track of the seasons as you can look up by specific animal and weapon
