Just siting here on a rainy day contemplating old thoughts that have crossed my mind several times. Over the years I've created, owned and taken part in websites, forums and youtube but mostly purely in a recreational capacity. Well, as I sat here in the office today watching educational stuff on youtube I came across stuff about creating youtube channels (and making money from them)...nothing new we've probably all seen it before and the problems that go with. However I'm thinking as much stuff as I'm into, it'd be kind of fun to get into a serious channel to play with and if it's possible to make some money to make the process worth while and to cover the expenses of the effort then that'd be cool. So what I'm thinking is a channel dedicated to education on "outdoors stuff" in general. Like agriculture, livestock, bee keeping, wildlife and conservation, soil health, animal care and management, hunting, construction, etc...etc... The stuff I have limited experience with could provide some entertainment grow as we go type vids I think. There should be a pretty much endless pool of interesting things to make vids of for interesting and new content. I'm thinking it'd be in kind of a style of a youtuber named Wranglerstar. He just shares experience and experiences from day to day in modern homesteading. I wouldn't be doing the same thing but sort of using that style (I think). What I'm looking for here is some thoughts on the idea and some names for the channel if it was ever something I actually pursue. I'm not saying I am doing it or not, just seriously thinking it over like I have for a long time. I just feel like I'm closer to pulling the trigger on doing it. Hell I'm doing this stuff all the time anyway, how much trouble could it be to carry a gopro and spit out a video or two a week right with some narration or commentary? (I know...probably a lot, lol) I think it could be fun and I don't have any plans of doing anything different with my life in the foreseeable future other than expanding farm and ranch life so the channel should have time to grow as it will and I'd be going into it without any expectations. I'm always more than happy to share any experience I have to help people out. As far as money is concerned I wouldn't be selling anything, any money from the channel would be from ads and/or sponsors and such (however that crap works) if the channel ever grew to that point. The purpose would be to share and educate and learn myself. So anyway, yeah...pretty simple, just wondered what people that I respect here's thoughts were on it. I could think of a name for the channel but I thought it'd be fun to discuss it here.
Being taught by Covey... This could either turn out really, really good... Or really, really, bad In all honesty... I'm not a hands on type of guy at all. I really enjoy watching new things and learning new things. YouTube is amazing for this. I would watch.
Ikr...I admit I have a real strong propensity for trolling but I'd avoid that on a youtube channel.............probably. I wouldn't be "teaching" people per se....just sharing what experience I have and if people can find use in that then that would be great. Everyone has their own way of doing things, I'd be sharing what works for me....or what didn't and why.
I enjoy Wranglerstar's style, and would definitely like more in that vein. I'm not sure how much Go Pro footage I can tolerate, and I suspect any amount of polish on the video could wind up taking up a bunch of time. I would be very interested in most of the topics you listed, and even if your video's wound up sucking I would still be willing to click, like and subscribe just to give you a bump with the advertisers.
Lol! Well I'd probably invest in some decent equipment so the vids didn't suck but I'm in no way a videographer so that is one thing that'll definitely have to be a learn as I go thing. Ha, I'm not very wise...that may be the biggest problem but then I guess there's more than one successful youtuber that has never worried about that problem. Anyone have any suggestions on what kind of video equipment would be good to start with for this purpose?
You could do a whole channel on just the ag stuff you know but add in some other stuff and I'd subscribe. I think the BM with the CM is a good name lmao!!!
ROFL, that's a hell of a lot more wise suggestion than I first realized given your explanation. I was just playing in worm crap a second ago. About a month ago I bought two worm factories so I could utilize kitchen waste and produce worm castings for the garden and house plants. I peaked in there to check on their progress and was pleasantly surprised. I saw the food was really being processed and got to see worm sex.... Now that we've had a second to process that image...the worm factories are really neat to watch work and a cool way to get rid of and make use of left over veggies and fruit.
So it would be kinda like Backwoods magazine on steroids with a live host. I'm down with that. How about "Simple Living Made Hard. with Covey" jk
Depends on how you mean that question...I'm straight, I mean I like critters and all but I just don't roll that way. If you mean take video of worms doing it then I suppose I could. I have not figured how to make them perform on demand yet but I can work on it. I could rig up a little porn set with weird bomchickawowow music and everything....this is genius. The thumbnail alone would be a natural clickbait. Yes yes...exactly like that...except completely different. That title about sums up my essence for sure, lol. I think I've cornered the market on complicating the hell out of simple.
I wasn't questioning your sexual preference or even implying that you were doing the boogie nights with the worms, just wondering if that was possible to put on film? lmao
Probably my guilty conscience...I had a dream the other night (or nightmare) that I fell into a big box of earthworms naked and surprisingly it was strangely satisfying... . . . At least until the killer worms revealed themselves.
I don't think we needed to know that, but I'm up for the worm sex video if you want to post it. Get this channel started, if nothing more than to test the waters.
This is going to be harder to get on vid than I first thought. They don't like light so it's tricky to get decent video of them, as soon as I pull the cover off the box they dive. This reminds me of the old tv show Night court where Brent Spiner who eventually played data in star trek TNG and his wife were in court for exploding chickens in an accident. He said they got into chickens because their worm farm failed, when asked what happened he stoically replied....stampede.
