So you believe the BHOD folks are responsible for posting an outrageous topic to drive up site traffic?
Serious question: bend at the waist after coming to full draw but aim for the heart to account for any string jumping? I hit a deer in what I was told to likely be "the void" between lungs and spine. I can tell you for a fact I wasn't bending at the waist but used great form otherwise. I aimed at the lungs just behind the shoulder. Heard the THWACK, saw it mule kick, absolutely NO blood on the arrow, and the next day no deer found. Thanks in advance for your answers. New to bowhunting, not wanting that disgusting feeling ever again.
Whoever told you that wants you to miss! It is a good idea to practice the shot yourself and not rely on the internet for the gospel truth. I'd be willing to bet that most misses are high when in a treestand.
Might not be legit but if a beginner reads this they should understand the correct method. No other way around but you should have a stand set up and a 3D target to practice that shot. Prove your shot to yourself.
what works great for me is I went out and bought a 3d deer target and I shoot it from an elevated position Then you go walk over to it and you can see where your arrows go in and where they are sticking out the other side. Gives you an idea of the path of the arrow from different angles because sometimes people just telling you to do something doesn't click the same as when you can actually do it and look at results
Nope! Try again. It was clearly directed at the thread originator. You conjured up a third (un-associated) party to this and manufactured a conspiracy hoping to heap it on me for doing so. That failed.
Bending at the waist has everything to do with maintaining proper form thru shot execution. And don't aim for "the heart in anticipation of string jumping. No two shots will be exactly the same in relation to point of aim. See final comment below, and BTW there is NO VOID, no magic lil place where you can send an arrow and hit nothing if in front of the diaphragm... PSM: Guys take the time to learn some anatomy of the species you are pursuing BEFORE heading to the woods. Please!
As you can see, there is no void between lungs / spine or anywhere else in the thoracic cavity. Now... shooting over the spine can and will result in a muscle hit and a deer that lives another day.
We considering you thought the OP's MO was to gin up post counts while only posting 1 time, just trying to figure out the logic of the comment as dangerous as that could be.
Best policy is to put up a stand, set up a target with vitals marked and practice practice practice. The correct adjustments will be obvious to you and you don't have to take potentially ignorant advice in the future. There's no substitute for first hand experience and anyone too stupid to figure it out from practice should find another hobby.
