Nothing of interest on my cams, but one of my Covert Red 40HDs crapped out on me, again!!! I put BRAND NEW batteries in it 2 weeks ago, and it was dead when I checked it today. It only took about 6 pics. It went from a charge of 8, down to a 4 in a matter of a few days from what the pics showed, without additional pics being taken. It's draining them for some reason. What's ironic is how I've bragged how good the battery life is on these cams! I'll get in touch with Covert Support and see what they can do. This is only the second time I've put this cam out.

That stinks about the cam! I have always heard Covert has good customer service. I have one that I use in my yard and luckily I haven't had any problems.

I wont have much time to scout for that buck this week, so I ran down to the farm to grab my stand and put out a camera mid day today. So I'm hoping I can get some pics of him to confirm that he is still there, and add to the history with him.

Holt, I don't think that buck strayed too far from those beans. Like you said, you know he's there, but he doesn't know you're there. Plus, you have plenty of season in front of you.

I was on my way in around noon time today to replace the trail cam I had to remove yesterday because of cam/battery issues. This is the same spot where I got the pic of that nice 8pt. I was maybe 50yrds from that spot when I spooked a deer that I believe was that buck! It was a lone buck with a fairly wide rack. I didn't get a very good look, as it snorted and switched ends quickly, but I was sure enough it was him that I literally turned around and left without even hanging the cam that I walked 3/4 mile to hang. I didn't want to continue on and disrupt the area further, because that's the direction he went in. I'll have to wait until Sat, when it's GAME ON!!!

It's at the shop now. Took it in on Friday and they said about 1-2 weeks. Haven't been out yet but I'll be ready as soon as it fixed.

Yeah Sat-Mon AM will likely be my only hunt this month so I'm hoping to make it count. Hopefully cell coverage has improved out there so I can give semi live updates.

    Good luck to all!

I have never heard of a hunting season opening on a Thursday. Very odd. Good luck either way. I'll be in an hour before first light on Sat!!

Michigan opens on Oct 1 (bow) and Nov 15 (rifle) every year. No matter what days those dates fall on. Dumbest hunting tradition this side of 'no hunting on Sundays' and back tags.

MD was the same way always started on September 15 ever year. Now they changed it for the better, it's the first Friday after labor day now!

I was able to reschedule work, so I just might play hooky on Monday, depending on deer activity. I need 3 relaxing days in paradise!
High of 66 on Saturday, Woohooooo

I was hoping we would get those Sunday showers on Saturday. Damn!! Instead, we'll have partly cloudy skies, with temps in the low 80s! That ain't the best deer hunting weather!

That's what we are supposed to get. Low 80's next 10 days. Supposed to get some rain and storms Saturday morning so afternoon might be ok.

Showers moving thru my area Friday evening into overnight, then Sat/Sun are 69/51 high/low splits. Bout as good as could be expected this early. Projected W/NW winds suck for my stand placement though. Have to take my climber and switch it up a bit.
